i wouldnt think so. alot of people go in there and alot of people come out. some look like hell after but they arent dead. plus why would the government want to kill their own property before they get out of training |

Dying in the gas chamber? You realize all it is, is a little CS gas right? If you die from that you had something else going on. I have never heard of anyone dying from that and I've been through 7 times. |

A healthy person should have no problems. The NBC chamber is over rated anyway, really isn't that bad. Now if you have asthma or something you could have a problem. That one reason people with asthma can't join. |

Yea you are mistaken because they are. They are used in all branches except for maybe the Coast Guard. I don't know about that one. Can you die no, it's tear gas. I mean I guess maybe a slight chance you could if you had a allergic reaction to it or something but no people don't die from it and no one has thousands of recruits do this every three months.
Your nervous? Trust me man that's going to be the easiest part of camp for you. It's gonna make you very stuffy, you'll start coughing, and you might throw up but man it's nothing. I'll tell you two things that will make it easier on you. Don't hold your breath cause it will make you take a deeper breath than you normally would and it makes it worse. Also if you can avoid shaving that day do it, shaving opens your pores and it hurts if you gotta fresh shave that day. |

You can die anywhere. The trick is, when you get into the chamber, hold your breath. Put your mask on when told, clear it and wait. When you get ready to exit the chamber, deep breath, yell at the DI what ever it is they want you to say and then run out. You'll get some burning in the nose and eyes. It is no big deal.............. |

It is possible, but not because it is a deadly gas or anything. It would most likely be due to a pre-existing condition like heart problems or asthma that would be triggered by the stress of going into the chamber. Any reasonably healthy person with none of these conditions will not have any life threatening reactions to the gas. |

They use a low grade tear gas agent or Banana oil and there has only been one or two deaths associated with this training out of the thousands that have taken it and it is thought that those individuals had some other respiratory type problems. The Russians on the other hand train with live chemical agents with a short life on a regular basis during some of their exercises and lose some troops due to this each year. This of course gives a lot more significance to paying attention to their training and being able to don that mask in eight seconds. |

yes. people who LIED about having asthma have died there.
If you are perfectly healthy and not a chain smoker, you will be fine. Miserable, but fine.
If you currently smoke: QUIT NOW. your lungs will thank you. |

When I went to boot, I actually didn't see any problem in there. After I got out and they spalshed water on our faces, HOLY COW. I danced an Irish Jig for a hour I think. |

We were told that if we didnt do it right we would die, but once we all went through it, they told us it was perfectly safe. it's not the highlight of your year, but it's not that bad. If they do tell you that, they are just trying to scare you.
I have to go through it again next month for my MOS, I'm already dreading it. But it's not the end of the world or anything. I'm thinking about taking my wife along. She cant go in, but I can go give her a stinky snotty hug afterwards!! |

No, tens of thousands of people do this ever year, in every branch (minus CG, not in the DoD anyway) and none of them die. |

I dont think so. The gas chamber is honestly not that bad. You go in there with a mask on. Then they tell you to take your mask off and repeat your reporting statement which in the air force is sir trainee (your name) reports as ordered. You wont even get through the sentence. You may get to trainee and then they will tell you to get out. So you are only in there for a couple seconds. It is one of the last things you should be worried about. Im a girly girl and a wimp when it comes to this kind of stuff and it honestly was no big deal. |

No.
1) The concentration of the CS isn't high enough to kill you.
2) You are exposed for only a short time |

Its no big deal and no you can't die in there. its hard to breath. But if i can go in there with out a good seal on my mask and sit in there for two mins breathing that crap, you will do just fine. Good luck and have some fun. |

i suppose you could, but remember cs gas is harmless it tricks your body into thinking its a toxic substance and your body responds by trying to get rid of it. |

Highly unlikely. The agent used in the Mask Confidence Test is typically CS tear agent. It will make you feel pretty miserable for a little while, but unless they charge the chamber to an astounding concentration, rarely lethal.
I have personally operated Mask Confidence Test chambers, and even been in them without a mask. And I'm still here. |

They are used in basic. I have never heard of anyone kicking the bucket during training but I guess anything is possible. |

No you will not die in the gas chamber. If you have asthma they will not let you go in because it can cause problems. CS gas was originally developed as a nerve agent to kill people. However, they decided that it was so weak that they would turn around and use it as tear gas. |

you wont die cause there are EMS personnel present and all personnel conducting the exercise are CLS qualified the only issues some one would have is if they have asthma or are allergic to sulfur then those individuals will have a really bad day other wise nothing happens
