It is very difficult to become a commissioned officer once you are enlisted. You will need a 4 year degree and a 120 or better aptitude score to apply to become an officer. As an enlisted man you will also be required to be recommended by your Commanding Officer. I assume you mean a pilot not a crew member when you say aviator. Marine pilots require higher aptitude scores in technical areas and 20/20 vision, plus you must be in excellent physical condition. Also, the longer you serve the less likely it is that they will want to pay to retrain you in a high cost specialty MOS so you need to set goals and move forward quickly. I can almost guarantee if you haven't achieved this within six years it probably isn't going to happen as a Commissioned Officer. However, you could reenlist in an aviation specialty and possibly become a Warrant Officer or Limited Duty Officer. This could be done anytime within 20 years.

Good luck.

Maybe depending on your age and if the MOS standards allow it.You might want to talk with a recruiter about that if your planning on doing that.
