Yes.
If you are a legal permanent resident alien -- that is, you have a green card -- you can enlist in the US military.
You do have to be a citizen to become an officer, however. Also, being in the military fast-tracks becoming a naturalized citizen, if that's something you'd like. |

In two tours as a Drill Instructor, I had recruits from the Philippines, Greece, the Netherlands, South Africa, Vietnam, and Korea. All that is required, provided one is eligible in all other regards, is a legal residency status.
Foreign nationality only becomes a problem with security clearances. It is unlikely you would be able to get a very high clearance, and there's an entire category of classification that is labeled "NOFORN." Not to be disclosed to any foreigner.
Completion of service, with an honorable discharge, moves you to the head of the line for citizenship application. Sometimes a person gets citizenship while still serving, as is the case recently of a soldier who received the PH and several awards for valor.

I know when the Bosnian Business was going on, the crypto boys swept through our boot camp, and if you possessed any of the languages of that region, it didn't matter whether you were almost graduated or had just got off the bus. We threw those kids into uniforms, they became instant E-5s, and we never saw them again. |

Yes you can. Today, there are certain sciences the military look for quite intently. Languages are a big thing today, Arabic, Afghanistan, Farsi, Pakistani, Mandarin,these are all in demand. Anyone with a green card is a possible candidate, especially if they are bi-lingual. |
