Chances at Becoming a Navy Officer?
|
I have wanted to serve in the Military as long as I can remember...specifically the Navy as an Officer. I really don't care what career field I get as long as I get the privilege of serving as a Naval Officer. I was wondering what my chances of getting a commission are. I just graduated with a 3.4 GPA in a soft science. I wrestled in College and was captain of my team. I was a Resident Assistant as well as a Peer Leader in a Freshman Seminar Class. And I am in good to very good physical shape. Thanks a lot for the help.

I was going to recommend going to a college where they have a Navy R.O.T.C but if you graduated college already, I am not sure what other options you have other than enlisting and proving yourself that you're "officer material" and get into programs that eventually get you into OCS. Talk to a recruiter and see what options are available to you. |

I'm not sure if your in Australia or not. But i know for the Australian Navy as long as you pass year 12 with a decent grade and have leadership experience they will pay a little bit of attention, its mainly though when you go to the OSB (officer selections board) that they get to know you and recommend you for certain roles. My fiance starts in the Navy on July 12th as an officer, and he was recommended for that because he had good grades in school plus other qualifications and leadership experience. As well as previous knowledge. You really have to study the Navy a lot and have knowledge of its past work. |

slim but not entirely out of the realm of possibility. the sub 3.5 GPA in a non tech degree does not help. you also don't have a lot of community involvement or leadership roles.
The Navy has canceled a few OCS boards this year and we don't know how many will happen next year. |
