No. Being conservative takes the capacity to question the media and academic elites. |

Negative. Haven't you heard the saying, "Herding conservatives is like herding cats"? You get the picture. If you want to see an example of "sheeple", look at your average "nonconformist" liberal. It is amusing to see that they are nonconformist in almost indentical ways! |

Ignorance makes people easy to train. Ignorance that thinking the news has all the truth you need to really know what is going on, and what your favorite politician or political party says is true just because it sounds good to you. |

No; and by your pathetic use of grammar you are obviously an illiterate Democrat. Sorry, that was redundant. |

I think less likely. Seems to me that Conservatives are usually open to all ideas, but require persuasive arguments and established facts, rather than just opinions, and hence are more likely to weigh and consider the 'brainwashing' techniques than others. Liberals tend to get emotionally involved in issues, sometimes with little analysis of the facts. I'll give you an example -- ten thousand years ago, most of north america was covered by ice, and five thousand years from now (maybe less), most of north america will be covered by ice again. does a degree or two increase in the earth's temperature now matter much? is it a good thing or a bad thing? |

Everybody is brainwashed when they are very young. The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree.
The worst brainwashing is the politicization of people. It doesn't matter if they are right, left, green etc.
If you are politicized, then you are brainwashed because you think in terms of stereotypes and political bigotry, rather than seeing yourself and others as individuals. |

Nah. I'm a moderate liberal (or liberal moderate!) and know lots of moderate conservatives. It's the fringes on both ends that are scary and, in my opinion, easily swayed by simple rhetoric and easily manipulated. |

That would make an interesting study. I wonder if we could get such a proposal past the ethics committee. |

hell yea- the whole reason they are conservative is because they fear change- they are restrained to the same exact beliefs that have been drilled into their head since childhood- okay how about I define the word.....
Conservative:
"disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change."
okay- so basically they are not innovative, fresh, new or different, afraid to break out of the box and think for themselves... yes.. brainwashed is a good word for them since it means....
Brainwashing:
"any method of controlled systematic indoctrination, esp. one based on repetition" |
