Could I get into the Marines with this...?

So it's my Junior year in high school and my GPA is 1.38. I really do not give a **** about school. I know the Marines look at grades, so is that too low?

well, as long as you graduate high school..they don't really care about GPA really, maybe you're talking about navy or air force...the marines cares more about making good marines..just concentrate on the ASVAB and your physical fitness level, and you will get in , 100 percent guaranteed!

You have to be able to pass the asvab. With a 1.38 I doubt you know enough to pass it. If you don't have enough discipline to at least get a 2.0(which is still really low) you don't have the discipline to become a Marine.

as long as you graduate and pass the asvab (31 for Marines) they could give a sh!t less what your grades where.

Yes it will. And too bad you don't care about school because like everyone else, you will.

well try to keep ur grades up it makes u look good but all they have top have is ur highschool diploma mine didnt even check out my grades andf i have a 1.8 and im a senior i even asked him he said he just needs my diploma, but dont dropout

Yes, for enlistment purposes, the Marines look at a High School diploma not the GPA. Placement in the various MOS requires certain ASVAB scores. It's unfortunate that your permanent high school academic record labels you as being not that bright and does not reflect your academic capability, which is obviously not 1.38 GPA level. You do not write anything like most high school juniors who have a 1.38 GPA, or even a 2.38, more like 3.38 or higher. I would not characterize "not trying in school" and thereby creating a permanent academic record of poor performance being "street smart." You apparently must have tried at some point in time, or you have somehow acquired English writing skill by osmosis. I knew a kid who had a similar GPA but was in the Spring of 10th grade. He had formerly gotten mostly A's but then in 8th grade his parents divorced. He stopped trying in school for a while and his grades fell. He had gotten behind in Math and was no longer at grade level and was having a very difficult time. To cope, he stated that he didn't care about school, and then stopped trying in most classes to prove it. Underlying his behavior was his not knowing that middle school grades don't really count and that most colleges only look at grades earned in academic classes in 10th and 11th grades. I met him and told him this in the spring of his sophomore year. It was at another kid's birthday party and he was kind of drunk at the time and had his guard down. He said that when he thought about his academic performance "it hurt so bad that he didn't know what he could do." I told him that UC only considers grades earned in 10th and 11th for calculating the A-G GPA used for purposes of determining scholastic eligibility, and that after high school for transfer admissions purposes, only considers the grades earned in a junior college.

It is a fresh start with the high school record wiped clean. This was like an epiphany for him. He started really trying in school. He was able to somewhat salvage his spring semester grades and then retook Algebra and Geometry in summer school. He did much better his Junior year and then his Senior year and was able to gain admission to UCSB. UC's and most colleges also consider upward trends in grades. He took the SAT exam in the late spring of Junior year and achieved good scores. He had always been an avid reader even when he was not
doing well in school, and this helped him on the critical reading and writing portions. The math portion tests Algebra1, Algebra 2 and Geometry. He had taken Algebra 1 and Geometry over and did well in Algebra 2 Junior year which prepped him for the math portion. If he had not learned how colleges consider grades from high school and that he could get a fresh start after high school, he probably would have just gone on barely passing.
Besides enlisting, you can also still become a Marine officer if you change your attitude and start trying in school. A 4 year NROTC MO scholarship isn't going to happen but the two year scholarship still can as it will depend on performance in college. There is no minimum HS GPA required; the primary consideration for those applying from college is a certain level of SAT scores and then College performance . PLC is also possible with a college gpa above 2.0:

Calculate regular military compensation at the link. Location makes a significant difference due to the housing allowance(BAH.) Single Enlisted Sailors and Coasties ranking below E-5, Enlisted Marines and Soldiers ranking below E-7, Enlisted Airmen below E-4 live in the barracks and do not collect BAH:

2nd Lt( Army, Air Force, Marines) = Ensign(Navy, C.G.) = O-1.
1st Lt( Army, Air Force, Marines) = Lt JG(Navy, C.G.) = O-2.
Captain( Army, Air Force, Marines)= Lt(Navy, C.G.) = O-3.
Advancement to O-2 around the 18th month.
Advancement to O-3 by about 42nd month
Army and AFROTC programs often have cross town school arrangements with nearby junior colleges that allow the junior college student to participate:

[20 of the 36 cross town schools above are junior colleges.]

Good Luck!

Just do good on your ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test. If you score enough on this you'll get in. Last I heard you need an 80 to get in, but that might have changed. Just get a diploma, because without it you can't get in.

Wow you are an idiot. But no as long as you graduate from highschool, they will accept you. But if I were a Recruiter i would make an exception, because if there was a battle going on would you just stay in your fighting hole and say "I really don't give a **** about this war." and have your friends die. Think about that and at least get your GPA to a 2.5. I'm a sophomore and I am going to join the USMC. But my GPA is 3.6. So I do give a ****.
