Could I still be a military dependent?
Find answers to your legal question.

Could I still be a military dependent?

I am 23 years old and a full time student. My dad is in the National Guard. I am also tottally blind. I live out of state and am my own guardian. Someone told me that I could still be a military dependent since I am permanently disabled. Is this true? If so, how would it work? My parents do not financially support me.

First answer is good, The only way you could still be a Dependent, is if totally disabled and unable to support yourself.
Since you are able to do that, you can not be a dependent.

Since you do not depend upon your parents for support you are not a military dependent based upon your disability. Merely being disabled does not make you a dependent. You must actually depend upon the military sponsor for the majority of your support to be determined a dependent.

You may have been while you were a full-time student over age 21 until your 23rd birthday but since you are aged 23 now you are no longer a dependent.

no. since you support yourself you are no longer eligible to receive benefits after age 23.

No you support yourself.

You would have to be 100% dependent on your parents, for your parents to still be able to claim you and you get the benefits from the military.

Ask your parents to contact the nearest DEERS office...sometimes permenant disablilities will allow you to maintain your dependent status....can't remember if blindness is one of them.
