Could the British Sailors actually been in Iranian waters? Could Iran be right?

most people are thinking/saying that iran is lying, bla bla bla, this is all iran's fault, bla bla bla.
well, what if iran is absolutely correct?
maybe the british were in their waters.
what do you think ??

even if they were, Iran treated it as a power play.. if he truly cared for them and Britain he would have released them on day 1 or 2... do you think we'd keep British soldiers that long here in America.. heck do you think we'd have even taken them in the first place? nope.. because we actually DO like them. |

I believe anything is possible so maybe they were in Iranian waters. I also think Iran may have used this incident to further their own political goals. |

First off, there has been evidence that they were NOT in Iranian water. This is from both the ship they were searching + the shot of the GPS from the brit helicopter.
2nd. Even IF they were in Iranian water, they were NOT invading or doing anything against Iran. They were inspecting a ship for Iraqi security purposes.
3rd. Instead of detaining them. They should have come up to the brits, said they were in Iraqi water and asked them to leave.
That would have been the end of it.
Iran chose to make this an incident. |

I think then that they could have said "shoo, go away", instead of boarding the boat and taking prisoners and using them as propaganda.
I doesn't matter much where they were the Brits never fired one shot, got boarded and then got paraded.
This doesn't sound like some warship surrounded, it sounds more like a fishing party boat that wasn't expecting trouble, which would lead me to think if it was a mistake, it was an honest one, or they would have been armed and ready for trouble. |

I think Iran is lying, the sailors were coerced into confessions, and this is just another cog in the giant propaganda machine of the genocidal maniac named Amadjinadad (or however you spell that psycho's name). |

well they could have been right but i don't think so. |

Even IF the Brits were in Iranian waters, which I'm not yet convinced of, the proper response is not to send an armed hostage-taking party to hold the soldiers for two weeks while parading them on television.
If we employed that tactic against the illegal aliens on our southern border, the ACLU would be up in arms. |

Uncertain, mostly because the boundary line is a subject of dispute. I have no doubt that the sailors thought that they weren't, and had GPS data to show it. |

I still think Iran is lying and who could you trust more? British or Iranian. |

No they weren't. There was no reason or advantage for them to be other than where they should have been.
The other point is to look at the Brits response, if they had said nothing then it would be a fair estimate someone screwed up but in fact they knew and said exactly where the sailors were.
Personally the commander of that operation should have his **** kicked because as soon as the Iranians came near the British they should have had a contingency plan instead of just hanging the sailors out to dry.
Those inflatables are good for moving men quickly from one place to another but the person who though up the idea they can do day to day unsupported interdiction was brain-dead. |

No, they were in IRAQI waters, not Iranian, this has been confirmed by multiple GPS systems tracking the vessel at the time, even the first Iranian report came through with the British being in Iraqi waters, then was "corrected" to say there were in Iranian waters. |

I think I would take the word of a technologically advanced country that "ruled the waves" up until the last fifty years over a country that hopes to one day have a ship that is capable of leaving the Gulf. |

no...first of all ...iran has not shown any evidence of the brits being in iranian waters while the brits have proven they were in iraqi waters with the gps location...and second...look at the history of iran and all of their lies and taking hostages...it falls right in line of who they are. wake up |

This was a retaliation move for something the other side was planning on doing. That is all I can say at this point. |

The waters they were captured in have been another facet of the dispute between Iraq and Iran
They both claim that these waters are theirs
Both the Brits and the Iranians say they have GPS proof of them being in Iranian or Iraqi waters
who to believe? I would like to think the brits
but
Remember Gary Powers we denied for years that he was in russian air space
and guess what
HE WAS
In 1998, information was declassified revealing that Powers' fateful mission had actually been a joint USAF/CIA operation. In 2000, on the 40th anniversary of Powers being shot down, his family was finally presented with his posthumously awarded Prisoner of War Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross and National Defense Service Medal. |

Absolutely. There is always that possibility, though I am certain the governments of Britain and the United States are trying to further discredit Iran in any way, so they made out the situation to be entirely their fault. |

To me, it doesn't matter whether or not Iran is right about it's waters' border. I think they had all the right in the world to do what they did if they felt threathened, I know the U.S. would have done worse if it felt threatened. Britts do not belong in the mid-east, they're part of the reason why there is so much conflict over religion and ethnicities over there anyway (after ww1, they divided the mid-east into the countries we know today, with no respect to ethnic or religious differences).
The western countries are too self- rigthteous. |

IRAN is right.
Englad did it in the past and apologized.
This time no different.
You will hear it in the Brit event coming up. |
