Don't negotiate with them. Take them out. Should other nations follow suit? Should their ports and land-based stations be taken out?
Aren't these pirates starting to sound like Al Qaeda terrorists with their threats of retaliation?

The tactic that was used was negotiation, and was switched to attack when the opportunity arose.
I do agree that it was a good thing they remained patient until the right time presented itself. France moved in and tried to make it happen, and for it they lost two of their hostages. America waited until the proper moment presented itself, and acted quickly. |

Obama did show the world how to deal with pirates. He made an example of how to deal with direct confrontations. Pirates' goals are to take over sovereign ships for ransom. They have no obligation in killing people or causing too much trouble. He has successfully displayed how there is a difference between pirates and Al Qaeda terrorists, which are more complex in depth. |

No, he did an awful job. He stayed quiet during the whole thing. He did that so if it went bad he could blame it on the military. We tried to negotiate with terrorist. We should have taken out the pirates a lot sooner than 4 days. All this did is set a precedent, if pirates take an American hostage, they can get something out of it if they stay calm. This one be the first of many pirate attacks on American ships. Just wait and see. |
