Did i make a mistake?

My fiance left for basic training for the navy, after he left i lost my job,because i refused to take a drug test. I smoked the saturday after he left , because i was upset, and i take responsibility for what happened, but i didn't want to tell him during basic, but, it has been killing me since it happened. I ended up writing it to him in a letter because i couldn't stand him not knowing, now im afraid of how he react, and i don't want to lose him over this. Any suggestions?? Did i do the right thing telling him now rather than after graduation??

In Basic, we had enough stress and work to worry about what was going on at home... but if you two plan to marry, then he needed to know what he's coming home to.

Now, go be a productive member of society. And lay off the weed. He gets drug test often, and even if he gets the second hand smoke, he could fail.

If he loves you he will understand. Tell him you did not want to upset him while he was in training. Straightened up , No more smoking,go out and find another job. This day and time they can drug test you any time and without warning. Jobs are hard to fine, lots of people are looking for them. When you get another job do not do anything stupid to lose it.

I think it is better you told him about what you did. Try not to dwell on it too long and find another job if you feel that guilty.

you should have just taken the test ive know friends who have smoke the nigh before and passed a drug test, or you could have got niacin, if he breaks up with your cause you lost your job he wasnt the right guy for you, **** happens you can always get another job

Yes, you did the right thing. You are worried about him, it is obviously going to come out one way or another. Although I wouldn't say that your decision to smoke was right, especially since it lost you your job, I would say that it was definitely the right decision to tell him. He has the right to know, and he needs to know now, rather than later. Telling him later would taint the feeling of his graduation, and he would probably react poorly, particularily since you would have withheld it for so long. He will probably be angry, and disappointed that you did that, but if he loves you, and is passionate about you, then he will understand, and forgive you. He will know that you have been upset, and he will accept you for your flaw. If he is unwilling to forgive you for making a mistake, even if it is one this big, then how would you expect your marriage to last? You will make mistakes through your lifetime, and not all of them will be small. Think of it as a test, a pre-test for marriage. If he is the right man for you; if he understands you and respects you even after you have made this mistake, he will make a wonderful husband. If not, what is, what is. I wish you the best.
