Of course they're under stress, it's a war. Before you go off the deep end, understand those Marines have a job to do. They are looking for people who will kill them without hesitation. Those people come in all shapes and sizes, including women and children. Our Marines do not have the luxury of time to see who'se good and bad, and I don't think that heresay from a neighbor who supposedly heard the whole thing is evidence enough to convict those Marines.
Obviously, you've never been in a combat situation, where a split second is all you have to make a decision. Those Marines are doing this every damn day, and your going to sit there, all fat and happy, and judge them? Ever hear of two sides to every story? Guess not. Get a clue.

When some one is shooting at you, and hiding behind wemon and children, a person still has a tendency to get pissed.

Maybe the wemon and children would not tell the Marines who was shooting at them.. Do not jump to the conclusion that this is an everyday happening.
How about if one of the wemon or, one of the children was the one doing the shooting ?? Shittttttttttt.

I believe it's a combination of stress and frustration. The frustration would come from being put in a situation (Iraq) with no real mission objectives with no end in sight.

No one knows why(if they did it that is). If they did indeed do it then it could have been a result of stress, trauma, and frustration at not having any real enemy or objectives and no firm date of leaving.

If the did commit the atrocity then tehy need to be reprimanded as it was a lethal loss of control and discipline. Those actions have damaged more lives than the 24 who are now dead, their relative may never recover from the loss. Their officers will be court martialled for a loss of control of their troops and their actions also have a much wider effect on the occupation forces in Iraq.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder could also have been a motivating factor it is a serious condition especially in members of the armed forces.

The truth needs to be found for the relatives of teh dead they deserve the truth and need to see justice for their families.

no, marines are trained to be able to control stress to the maximum. The marines are also trained to do first dont question orders. So with 99% certainty, I can say that the marines where probally orderd to kill those in the houses. sad, yes, but the marines ARE NOT trained to question orders, even if it was to kill citizens.

From what I have witnessed between media and the military is one thing, that what really happens is always twisted around to make a good story. The medias main objective is to get the public talking about the newest story coming out of the war zones. Dont take the side of the media right away, they could have gotten the whole story wrong. Dont give up on our military, they all need our support. More than likely the Marines were under stress. Anyone who has been in a war zone can tell you that the one thing on their mind at all times is getting home, and getting away from all the violence. If these Marines had been there for awhile and had to deal with this violence everyday then they were going to snap. When you are sitting at home watching the news or even a war movie you can turn off the tv if you see something gross or disturbing. But when your over there in the action, you cant turn it off, its all around you all of the time. You are bound to see that one thing that will haunt you forever. Its stressful over there, and some people can handle that kind of stress; but most people cant handle seeing those they know die, and knowing they could be here in America with there family and friends. This whole story might be true, if it is true then they snaped; but just remember that these Marines will remember that day and it will haunt them for the rest of there lives. All we can do is pray for those Marines, and hope that this story is wrong.
