They didnt achieve much positive to be honest.
Of all the negative things they did however, the least obvious one is that they forever changed the ability to have true free speech.
Everyone is now so afraid of mass persecution that even the slightest comment on race or religion is considered to be odious and bigotted regardless of truth.
Therefore hatred has gone underground rather than being handled above the line and debated in a free and liberal way.
So yes. in a ropund about way the Nazis did defeat democracy and free speech, even though they lost. |

Yes, they changed the world.
Despite all the evil, they made us come to realize that human life is precious and we should not obliterate an entire race just because of the color of their hair/skin or the sound of their name or the religion they practice.
In the end, we gain so much from learning and applying the lessons learned in that horrid time. |

Well they certainly caused the deaths of many people which has probably radically changed the course of history. |

It made the world sit up and notice that they had to do something to prevent the likes of A.H. ever taking control of a country again, it gave a much needed boost to the fledgeling United Nations.
The main thing the nazis managed was to leave a blight on the name of Germany that even today is not completely erased.
The cure for cancer could be found in Germany tomorrow but they will be remembered more for the evil they allowed to take control of Europe in WW2. |

Yes. We all change the world we live in... the bigger the movement, the faster the change. Their presence in the world achieved many things. |

The whole peiod from the 20s through to the end of the war changed the world. The Nazi Party certainly had the major role resulting in the war and the millions of displaced persons following the war. But I believe there had to be something major to occur in order to cause the massive population upheaval that happened after 1945. In my opinion, if it hadn't been the Nazies it would have been some other castrophe. Mass movement of population has occured many times over the centuries but the nazies merely speeded it up, and on a much larger scale. Modern communications play their part with poor countries seeing how the other half lives and don't see it happening at home, so move to the better life. Actually, there are so many factors involved that it would require much more space than available on this site. |

NO! They didn't "achieve" a single thing. They only serve as a reminder (as if we needed one) of how evil human beings can be. The repercussions from the Nazis are still with us and will be for a very long time. Nothing positive came from the Nazis. |

Dr. Mengele was an unnutterable s.o.b but his clinical notes were used by Dr. Christian Barnard in the first heart transplant..its all ghrist to the mill of human history and experience...some appalling..some inspiring. |

WW2 changed Europe. There were medical and scientific advances in part achieved by the nazi regime, but on the whole their contribution was an appallingly negative one. |

They should have as they showed to the world how bad a Fascist dictatorship can be. Unfortunately that didn't stop fascists being in power elsewhere as the US though it was better than Communists and even supported fascists just to keep the Communists out e.g. Chile. |

Yes. Scientists created the V1 and V2 rockets. One Nazi scientist came to the US and helped work on the space program. Werner Vaun Brown, a former Major in the SS and later a rocket scientist, helped create the Space Shuttle which had a great effect. Also the Nazi atomic bomb project was realized and the Americans beat them to it. A soviet spy reported the atomic bomb plans to the soviet union and Britian. This started the cold war, which had a major effect on the world. |

Now we have a new neonazi, W Bush who want to change the world. Like Adolf Hitler wanted to change the world and to create a new aryen nation.
George W bush with the help of the evangelists want to change the world. And I know that utopy could be very dangerous (Read the philosopher Hanna Arendt who write a book about "The totalitarism")
It's an utopy and utopy=totalitarism.
What can we do? don't vote for him and for his follower.
Don't forget, only history will judge Bush and his compagnons. |
