Gen. Patton once said:
"it's not your duty to die for your country, it's to ensure that the enemy dies for theirs"! |

In the defense of our country yes. If my death was to help complete the mission or to help the security of others yes. |

I would die for my country. When I was younger it seemed like their were more people who felt this way. As I've made my journey through life, I see more and more poeple that can't stand the USA, but for some reason continue to live. Regardless of your political affiliations or stance on certain issues, this is still the greatest nation in the history of the world. No country, empire, rebublic, ect., has given it's people the freedoms that we have enjoyed for over 200 years. People should realize what a blessing it is to be here, and if they think it isn't then why are people crossing the border in record numbers. |

When I first joined the military, it was thinking that I was defending my country and that was the "noble" thing to do... to serve. But since I've joined, I have had two children.
My opinions have changed just a little bit. By serving, now I think of them before country. If this nation ever came under attack to the point where the fight would not be in some far off battlefield, but in our own backyards... I would die knowing that I was protecting them and their rights. Of course for my friends and other family members, but more so for my children and their father. |

I'm one of the people that see it on that level. I'm not gonna die for my country. but I will die fighting for the closest of friends and family. But in the end i guess it would be seen as dying for my country. |

I would for the right reasons.
But wars of personal petty vengeance (ie Iraq) are not one of those. |
