I am an American and id honestly have to say he answer to that question would be yes, i personally do not like war and think we have absolutely no business in Iraq , i think the US needs to butt out of everyone's business and stop trying to be some kind of "world leader" all were doing is making everyone hate us and its embarrassing to be an American right about now. i say we like a good war though because its the truth, as much as people protest it its about the same as a dysfunctional couple who fight all the time and cant get on without it, its like they need it or something, hopefully that makes sense. |

It always seemed to me that they were trying to make up for the fact they were late for the last two world wars by being really punctual this time. |

Americans support things like "Desert Storm" where we are in and out in no-time with no casualties.
Americans do not on the whole support Iraq which has been drawn out with many casualties, and with little positive results.
there is no such thing as a "good war". Vietnam is still fresh in many peoples minds. |

Not as much as the Europeans. Now those Europeans can really throw a party when it comes to making war. |

Overseas?
The last war fought in their own yard was the civil. That didn't involve a blitz or a wave of bombers dishing out 'shock and awe'. |

No. We love a good peace.
That is why we are widely criticized for staying out of WWII so long.
We are a "leave me alone" country... (except for the Bush years.)

Some do, some prefer the US was at war. Why? I don't know... |

Humans love a good war as long as they're not in the middle of it.
Many years ago, during the Malvinas (Falklands) war, the people used to gather and celebrate military victories (most of them, fake reports from the military rulers) like if they were sport matches. Nobody was (wanted to be) aware that it was about killing more people than the other team. The violence and bloodshed wasn't even talked about.
I see the same attitude now in a group of the USA population. |

America has been lucky apart from Pearl Harbour and the 7/11 atrocity, they have never been affected by a war in their own back room. In consequence there is an element, as with most societies, that would love to get into a war situation. In the main though I think the American people are like us and would prefer not to have an all out war with anybody. The shame is that Governments do not think in the same way. |
