well according to German history they were defeated because of underestimating the Russians and if the Germans don`t know who won them who does |

The Allies won World War II, of which the Americans were a major part.
Your analogy would be the same as saying that a soccer team didn't win the game; the goalkeeper did. If you're on the winning side, you won. |

It was a joint effort by all Allied Forces.
Not the Yanks
Not the Kosacks
and not the Brits.
There were many other countries fighting with the Allied Forces. |

I'm American and I believe the Russians were the country most responsible for the defeat of Germany in WWII. |

It was Really the Russians? The Russians had a large effect, yes, the the US supplied virtually everything they used, from raw materials to tanks and guns. anything the Russians made was made with us materials.
it was not the effort of one nation, it was the combined efforts of the Allies.

Really? Seems to me the Russians lost over 23 million people in that war (almost 14% of their population) and had large areas of land devastated by the war. The US lost about 419,000 people (less than 1/3 of 1% of our population) and with the exception of Pearl Harbor and the attack on the Aleutian Islands emerged unscathed from the war. |

Darn, and I thought we Americans did everything. The Russians lost a huge amount of forces on their march into Germany. I would think it was a group effort though. |

As with all wars, it doesn't matter who won - it's who lost that counts. |

You'll note that an awful lot of that 'weight of Soviet Arms' came from...the United States of America.
The Soviets took the brunt of the casualties and ate up HUGE numbers of Nazi troops and equipment.
Without the United States, the Russians would have lost. As it was, it was a very near thing for them. Without the Soviet Union, the United States and the UK would have been fighting for a LOT longer, but the outcome wasn't in doubt. Round about 1945, things would've gotten a lot um...hotter...for the Nazis. They lacked the heavy water and other resources needed to develop the bomb. We didn't.

i agree to a large extent however Britain America and the other allies were very important in finishing off germany. for example by supplying equipment and intelligence and by opening a second front and pinning down german troops |

Do you really believe we didn't?! Eisenhower allowed the Soviets, NOT the "Russians," to take Berlin because of the atrocities perpetrated on the Soviets in the USSR by the Nazis. American forces literally "hung back" to let the Soviets go in per the agreements made in the last meeting between FDR, Stalin and Churchill. Further, how about the Pacific Theater?! The Soviets didn't even get there! You really should either study your history or watch a bit of the History Channel. |

ah..this again. Who was it that supplied the Reds while they moved their factories east of the Urals? Who was it that opened a Western Front in Europe?
Americans and the WESTERN allies. |

The true Blue American Ego won the war all by itself and every other country should be grateful for their saving their behinds. Well isn't that amazing all those people and soldiers from other nations did nothing. They stood by and watched while the great USA saved the day. Yea Amen Hallelujah!!!
In Reality it took 6 years and millions of deaths to defeat the Nazi regime all opposed to the tyranny of Hitler won that day not one country but a world!!!! |

The Russians were just whipping boys meant to slaughter their own forces until the Western Allies could open up a second front. They succeeded in nothing but killing their own troops. Had the British, Americans, and Canadians not landed at Normandy the Germans would have crushed the Russians promptly. Patton and Monty were ordered by Eisenhower to slow down so that the Russians could catch up to them, The British and Americans should have taken Berlin but Eisenhower wanted to be friendly with the Russians, lot of good that did. |

they lost more people that doesnt mean they won they were just worse at fighting. Maybe they should of laid of the vodka and they wouldnt have gotten shot so much |

America was crucial to victory, especially in the Pacific where the Russians played almost no role, and their presence in Europe was the only reason the Soviets didn't sweep to the English Channel. |

Ofcourse we do.However we don't think we did it alone.Heres a little suggested reading for you-Stalingrad by Antony Beevor
YOu see.Stalin got lucky.Hitler became convinced of his own invincibility and tried running things in Russia from Berlin, without knowing what was happening there.
Save yourself time and embarrassment and do a little research next time. |

Everyone did there bit and yes the russians did invade berlin but it was one by the allies in total. Altho the russans were given the chance to take berlin because britan and the us knew it would take alot of troops and their lives to take it so they held back and let the russians do the dirty work. |

What do casualty stats have to do w who won or influenced victory in the war?? The russians were in the war much longer than we were. Our involvement brought about the ultimate resolution !! |

What?!? lol, what kind of smoke are you inhaling? Hope it's toxic because I hope you don't get to infect humanity with your gametes. Most of those casualties were from Stalin himself. Dudddeee.........wake up and smell the socks you haven't changed in years. |

we don't measure victory in terms of our own number of fatalities. do you attend public school? |

That's nonsense what you've written here. I'm Russian, and I know a lot about WWW 2. If you're so brave and noble, then why haven't you started the Second Front earlier? I'll answer. Cause you were watching our fighting alone against Nazis. Your leaders were just waiting for the result. Who'll win? Really nice tactic. The Great Patriotic War is the main celebration in my country. And I'm proud of having been born in it. |
