Do I have to take the ASTB exam for Naval Intelligence Officer?

The ASTB is for Aviation. Or is it mandatory for all Navy Officer recruits.

Yes, you do. The ASTB consists of six sections: math, reading, mechanical comprehension, spatial apperception, aviation and nautical information, and aviation supplemental. The first three sections are required for all Naval Officer applicants and your score on those section is called your OAR (officer aptitude rating, similar to the AFQT). It's out of 80. Anything over a 50 is considered a good score.
The other three sections are only required for aviation candidates, but taking them and doing well will help strengthen your application for intel officer. The whole test takes 3 hours, just the first three sections will take 1.5. It's a hard test, so study up before you take it. The site below offers a lot of good study material. |
