Once you join a Military Sourse, Uncle Sam owns you! You will go where ever they send you and you will not have a say so in the matter. I can promise you that alot of our men and women whom are in Iraq now, never wanted to go there. |

When you join the military they don't suggest things to you. |

Your kidding right? |

Nah. They'll just let you chill in some tropical paradise sipping drinks and partying all night.
Will you have to go to Iraq? What do you think?!? |

My husband joined less than a year ago, he is not even back from basic/AIT and they are already planning on sending him to the sand box December |

I can't stop laughing...
What is this word "want" that you speak of? |

When you join you belong to them and they will send you any damn where they want to! |

You have NO choice and DON'T let any recruiter tell you different. You go where your unit goes end of story. |

you do not get the choice if you want to go or not. it's not up to you. when you join the army if they say you have to go then you have to go. so if you join and they say your going to Iraq then i guess you will be going. |

If you are sent to a unit that is deploying, you are not given the choice.
Keep in mind, however, is that not every unit will go to Iraq, and there are some units (called TDA units) who do not have overseas missions at all.
But, I think that the chance is greater than lesser you will be sent to a unit that has the possibility of deploying. |

Most likely yes. It'd probably be your first stop. |

Your wants won't amount to a hill of beans. A friend of the family is in Afghanistan. A relative is in Kosovo. Another is in Germany. So, no... you may be stationed else where.... but Iraq is a very strong possibility because the President is sending an additional 28,000 troops. |

how old are you, you know you have to pass a test to get in the army, i know they take just about anyone, but you may be in the lowest percentile. |

you go wherever they need you to go. it's not likely that a first year enlistee would find his way into Iraq unless he/she possessed special skills. |

Once you are in the military, they get to choose where you are sent to for the duration of your enlistment time.
With the current events in that part of the world, and the fact that many enlisted men and women are being held over longer or sent back for another tour of duty; that will most likely be your first duty assignment.
Best if luck to you in your military career. |

Depends on where the Army decides to send you. |

Whatever the mission requires of you. Depends on what MOS you have, all that stuff. There are certain MOS's that deploy more then others. There is no want once your in. |

What makes you think that you will have a choice? The military will send you wherever you are needed. You won't necessarily be sent to Iraq, but it is likely. |

you have to do whatyouare told, and they can change thir mind at any time. |

You have to go if they tell you!! You can be deported anywhere! But I'm pretty sure you'll be shipped to Iraq since we need to finish the war! It depends if they are looking for more troops. |

ROFL, sorry to laugh...but IF YOU WANT TO??? C'mon...if you are joining the Army, i hope that you have kept yourself informed and realize that the job of the Army is to fight in wars. There is a war going on right now, and if you have'nt read or heard on the news about the numbers of troops being sent there, it is not likely that you will have the luxury of deciding if you want to go or not. You will go, there really is no choice in that for a service member. If you don't want to go, then the best thing for you is not to join. |

Dude, your life is no longer your own. You will go where you are sent and die, be crippled, or emotionally scarred for life.
Good luck with that. |

Recruiters can and do lie, If you can get out now do it. |

FIRST OF ALL, PLEASE DON'T JOIN THE ARMY.
i was in the marines during viet nam, i have 3 kids and i was able to convinced them never to join. the army is a bussiness, they will promise anything to get you to join. once you join you belong to them..they will send you to iraq..believe me if the recruiter is telling you, you don't have to go he is lying. why do you think theey are giving 10-15 thousand dollar bonuses. if people were joining they would not have to do that. please listen to me, you don't know me but i don't want aanother young american dead......just think that you are not the only one dying, your whole family will die with you |

Once you join the military, you are their slave for life. You can be called back anytime, even when you're an old man.
And yes, they will definately send you to Iraq to be killed over oil. |
