I am entirely opposed to the war [illegal war] in Iraq.
The British Armed Forces and in particular the British Army get my unswerving and loyal support as ever.
It is not the soldier who decides to go to war, it is the failed politician.
Old soldier, British Army 1957-1965. |

yes i do respect our armed forces
i was a soldier for 25 years. they are the best and they do a job not many can do..
i will give any soldier all i have if they need it , just like fellow soldiers and civilians did for me when i served.
we owe soldiers our respect and our time. they see to it we stay free.
yhaoo is wrong i answer questions like this often. its how its worded that makes it look like no one is asking this question. |

I respect the British armed forces irrespective of their mission. The British armed forces are unquestionably the most respected in the world. Other armies envy British professionalism and training |

No matter what I might personally think about the war in Iraq or the war on dugs or the longest cease fire in history, Korea.. I have the utmost respect for our military.
They have a job to do and they are doing it regardless of personal politics, they are sacrificing everything that is important to them at home to be away and protect US interests. It should not matter to anyone what the politics here are, it should only matter that some people are so selfless so honorable that they put everything aside to fight for our rights, even if we wouldn't fight for them ourselves.
"I might not like what you have to say, but I'll die to defend your right to say it."
Soldier on guys and gals.. we are behind you. |

Respect is the least you should offer someone who is willing to put their life on the line for you. I helped to found LEAVES as a way of going beyond the yellow ribbons and into respect and support the Hero is aware of getting. |

Of course i respect our military...how can someone not? I mean c'mon if you don't its like saying "screw America, i only live here and wear a buisness suit all day and have a safer 9-5 job then the men and women who have died, and will die defending my country." But thats me. My grandfather was in the Air Force for WWII. SO was my great uncle, its just that he was 16 when he inlisted, so i have even more respect for him. He did eveything he could and was one of the lucky ones who made it back alive and in one piece. When i turn 18 i am praying that i can enlist. not go "get myself killed" but to be one a few people who does the right thing for more then just themselves...It is something i have wanted to do fir as long as i can remember, no matter how much hell i will catch from it. I have the right to choose, and i also have the desire to be more then just a suit working in some city. I want to be able to say, yea i did the right thing, how bout you?? When i am old an wrinkly (LOL). I really hope i havent insulted or hurt anyones feelings..it wasnt my intent, i just kinda felt like i had to explain how much respect i have for all the military branches and men and women serving now, who have served in the past, and who will serve..ALL OF THE ABOVE IS MY PERSONAL OPINON, & FEELINGS. |

regardless of political opinion, the troops are a tool and the tool should get the best to fulfill its task.
in other words, i may not support the actual mission, but I support the troops. |

Having been a soldier for 15 years(quite some time ago ) and took part in several "active service campaigns" including two tours of duty in Northern Ireland. Our job was to obey orders from our superiors.Firstly our allegiance was to Queen and Country irrespective of which country you were fighting for as long as it was in Britain's interest, that is what we were paid for. There was a time when we were welcomed home like the Falklands. Our present government is keeping everything under wraps including the accuracy of casualty figures in order to hide the fact that they are failing our troops at home and abroad. |

I respect the armed forces period! Now I may meet someone who is part of the armed forces that I don't like or respect the way that person is representing the armed forces but that would be strictly a personal opinion. I'll leave up to each branch to use the UCMJ (United States)to determine if they have a bad apple and take appropriate action. |

It's a tough job.
No one can really understand the sacrifice it takes to wear the uniform for your country unless you've done it.
The civilian leadership leaves much to be desired but I have nothing but props for people who serve |

That is really a hard question to answer since the men and women in today's armed forces, on the majority are not there for some patriotic reason but becouse of the economy that see's the jobs going south of the boarder and across the world and out of the united states. I guess people need to eat so they have to fight bush's war and hope they survive long enough to support there family.
I do feel sorry for the military personnal that America put them in harms way. |

my grandfathers fought in The Somme - my father fought all over Europe and in Palestine - my husband and son- in - law fought in the gulf - damn right i respect them - they do what most people wouldn't have the b*lls to do - for rubbish money and next to no support from our government - they deserve our respect at least they have earned it unlike our politicians. |

I think the majority of people in the UK respect our forces.
Just a pity they won't do it publicly for fear of upsetting the minority groups which are now so prevalent in this country.
As said before - Iraq is NOT the issue. Our armed forces go wherever they are sent with no right to protest or strike. It is the politicians who should be held accountable - not the men & women in DPM.
I did my time - proud to have done so. My son is now serving - proud that he is.
Pride of place in my house goes to a 4 picture frame - my grandfather, Hussars. My father Royal Marine Commando, Myself Royal Marine Commando and my son RAF Regiment.
Me - I wear a "support our troops" wristband whenever I leave the house. If people don't like it then they can get fecked!! |

Yes, I respect the courage an integrity of anyone who serves Queen and country.
But whilst I appreciate the General's comments on the lack of enthusiasm shown by the public towards returning service persons, it has to be remembered that these are far off wars in far off lands, fought for reasons that most of the public struggle to empathise with. You can hardly expect brass bands and ticker-tape. |

I respect anyone who serves, and anyone who is willing to criticize the government if they're willing to give up their benefits in exchange.
I respect people who fulfill a contract, and know what they signed. No excuses.
I respect accountability.
I respect a Congress that actually cares about the troops enough to make sure they're taken care of when they transition out of the service. |

Soldiers DO NOT make or voice political policy, that is the job of politicians. A soldiers responsibility is to carry out the policies that politicians set. Whether they agree with the policy or not. |
