Do You think the Government Should Instate A Mandatory 2 Year Military Service Requirement?

It is against in what I believe in to say yes to this question but I am beginning to think maybe it should be required. Look at the way children act in this day and age. They are all expectant of things. They are media driven and have no clue what the real world is about. The teens these days try harder to emulate MTV then to live in reality. I think a couple years in the military will teach them self worth, respect, and pride for this great country.

No, because if people had no heart in what they were doing, they would just cause more casualties, so I say just let people who actually like the military like me and let us do the jobs and get it done right.

No, then the Standards would suffer. Now, if it was compulsory Civil Service, with the OPTION to do Military Service, sure... but if it's the other way around, too many 10%'ers would be forced in, and THAT would undermine the Effectiveness, Moral, a whole bunch of things.
Contrary to popular opinion, the Branches have enough Volunteers, usually meeting, and exceeding goals. We are not stretched as thin as some say for political points. There are over 2 million Members, all Volunteer, and only 150K are in Iraq at any given time (or less).... we have many Troops Stateside, who have not deployed 1 time to either "Front"... so, if they want to make Service Mandatory, make it Civil Service, there are plenty of things that can use attention here.

That's kind of like Obama's idea. It's a good one. He want everyone to have the opportunity to go to college, but you have to give back if you take the opportunity.

anyone whos ever served in the military will come up with a unanimous agreement. NO. there should be no mandatory service. I would not want to be in a war with someone who doesnt want to be there. The volunteer military is the best a country could ask for.
No mandatory public service either. Why should I be forced to pay back the debts accumulated under my parents?

No! I don't want to be forced into the military. But, it would probably prevent us from starting unnecessary wars.

Yes. For one, getting out in the country and world for a couple of years before university will help mature and prepare the youth for the rigors of attaining a degree. It also gives you a heightened sense of civic duty, instead of armchair patriotism.
