Do all time bombs, like in the movies, have an LED clockface countdown?

It seems like it might be beneficial to the guys trying to fight the bomber...

No, they don't. It's not a necessary component in a bomb. The LED clockface is included in a lot of movies to help build suspense. Usually the countdown gets below ten seconds, causing the audience to hold its breath etc. In practical terms, you're right - its definitely more of a help to the good guys.

There are other ways to delay the explosion, like using a timed detonator in which acid eats through a strip of metal to trigger the detonation. I guess switches like these are calibrated so the time they'll take to trigger is known reasonably accurately.

These days they are more likely to have a mobile phone attached to them than a timer. An LED clock serves no purpose other than a tension builder in a film.
A timed bomb could have any kind of timer, the IRA bomb at the grand hotel in Brighton had a 365 day timer from a video recorder on it which was wired into the hotel main power supply

No the reason they use timers in the Movies it adds to the tension

in most cases to use led timing devices is a waste of effort

we will use them in training where the clock rings a bell to simulate the Device going Off

but in my experiances it looks good in the Movies

in real life i doubt bombers will have high tech bombs with led readouts, the timer could be a watch or even an old analog windup alarmclock
