A while back I was thinking about joining the Marines. I didn't have to do pull-ups, they only made me pull my chin up to the bar and hang there for as long as I could. The recruiter said that they didn't allow the females to do pull ups anymore. Well, after some time, I have thought about joining the Air Force because they have more to offer in my career field. I cant find there physical standards online. All I found was an outdated one saying I have to do atleast 2 pull-ups. I was just wondering if pull-ups are still a physical requirement for females in the air force? And if anyone knows the physical standards, such as weight, running time, etc., I would relaly like to know that too before I go to see a recruiter for the Air Force.

Google AFI 10-248. This is the AF Fitness Standards and this is the program you will be measured against in basic training. Be advised though that this program is being revised and may change in as little as 2 months. The AFI number shouldn't change though so just make sure you are looking at a recent version (date is always on the top of the first page.)
No pull up's right now - there is a 1.5 mile run, waist measurement, pushup's and situps. Scoring depends on age so you'll have to look up the chart for your age group to determine how you would do in basic. |
