They are an infantry based branch of the Military. Yes- they go to war.
Not all marines go to war though- I have a friend who is stationed in Georgia..he is security forces. |

Marines deploy as needed for war, and any place that needs them to provide humanitarian and/or security needs.
If not doing those 3, they are training for it and will wait for something "bad" to happen so they would deploy. |
