Do people really get shot if they go into area 51?

The warning signs indicate that security forces have the authority to use deadly force. Most of the time, that is enough of a deterrent to keep people away. As for the rest, if they are shot, that information is not made public.

There should be signs up that state "Deadly Force is Authorized". This means that if somebody trespasses into that area, and they do not obey commands to surrender, they CAN be shot.

People are typically not shot, if they do not pose a significant threat. The AF police (Security Forces) use what is called a "use of force" model, based on the level of threat perceived. Most individuals are smart enough to surrender when you have a bunch of people with M-16s pointed at them.

it's a government controlled area. just like any base deadly force is authorized for anybody who enters illegal or is trespassing. so it depends on what you are doing depends on the amount of force used.

if you get too close to the government restricted area, you will usually get some sort of warning, but if you do not comply, they will use deadly force.

If the fencing around an area identifies it as secured government property and warns that trespassers may be subject to lethal force, then you have to suspect they mean it. Years and years ago, a car fleeing police ran onto a nuclear submarine base facility near where I lived, and was made into swiss cheese by the Marine gaurds.

So, without having actually tested the theory with regards to the alleged "area 51," I'd say yeah. It's likely that trespassers would be engaged with small arms and killed if they didn't surrender.

No. I think you'd have to pose a serious threat. They have sensors that alerts security when someone is near. They find the person and tell them to leave or they'll be arrested. I guess they could shoot someone if the intruder pulled out a gun, or kept driving towards the base.

Area 51 is a top secret SCI SAP access area. Yes they can shoot you and it would be pefrectly legal under the national security act of 1947 signed by then president Harry S. Truman

Thats what the signs say, I wouldn't chance it. But more likely anyone tresspassing would be taken into custody and questioned.

If you go past the part that says NO TRESSPASSING, TRESSPASSERS WILL BE SHOT. Then yes you will.

No, it is a warning to scare people away. They do have that authority but the they usually detain you and then turn you over to the Local LEOs and you are charged with trespassing.
