I know people in the Navy, Army, Marines and Air Force, who should be Chemical Engineers and Nuke Chemists, so no, not only "dumb" people join!

of course man, the army isn't just infantry. (not that the infantry is just screw ups and dumb people) but judging by ure question you think the army is just infantry. There are people who work on helo's, tanks, you have to be pretty smart to work a tank too. And the army isnt your only choice, if you wanna fight alot, join the USMC, if you wanna be on the sea alot join the navy, if you wanna stay in hotels and sit on ure *** all day, and still find a reason to whine, join the Air force!!!! JK, but not really. Alot of fresh high school grads join the military because they want a better life or they can't afford a college education. That doesn't mean they are svrew ups or dumbies, i hope i helped

Not even funny. Maybe you just need a reminder that some of America's best and brightest serve this country in the armed forces. You'll no doubt hear from many of us here. Listen to them instead of your teachers or college professors or the newspapers and arrogant media types who all think they're smarter than the rest.

American armed forces are full of intelligent people who are also driven, career minded, and competitive. Make sure you understand that before you decide to join. If you think you're getting in the ring with a bunch of dumbies, better think again.

All Officers have at least a 4 year degree. Most LTC's (0-5's) have a Masters and Most Generals have PHD's.
A lot of enlisted Soldiers join to get college money and many of them get there degrees and become officers. A lot of senior NCO's have at least 2 year degree's.

Servicemen and women compared to the civilian population are more educated IE percent of servicemen to civilians that have a degree is higher.

The military has Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, ect. So you seem like a very uneducated person and probably should not join, or join and go to college.

Some people that have been in the military that you probably know. To get to there position, I assure you they are not dumb.

i'm military intel, and while most of us don't have very good common sense, the people I interact with on a day to day basis are some of the smartest people I've met outside of college. We hold the geekist conversations ever ranging from BioTech to other random technology conversations on building machines from around the house.

I consider these people and myself very smart.

It's primarily income that determines if you are going to serve in the military. More poor people than rich, rather than intelligence.

As someone who served in the military (US Army), I can say there were many highly intelligent people there.

Yeah of course, they had to pass certain tests starting with the ASVAB to be where they are at.

Sure, the Navy has a lot of Nuclear engineering and Advanced Computer Field Programs that you are guaranteed to have and train in.

As far as Army, pick your MOS smartly, and you will be the smart one.

If the Army was full of dumb people then I think we'd be doomed by now. But yeah, they do have SOME dumb kids there, mainly who go infantry or other low MOS jobs. Some smart people choose to be infantry simply because that's what they want.

Pick what you want, be smart, and make it known.

Or just go Navy ;).

is this a joke? just becouse someone is streetsmart does not mean they are dumb and a screwup. sounds to me like you would do yourself a favor and just stay out. most people go in becouse they have no money and 3 hots and a cot look pretty darn good at the time. a chance to leave their home state and really see the world. a chance to make a differance. you on the other hand sound a little too uppity. stay out and do us all the favor of your smartness being wasted becouse you sound like a waste.

Whose army units are you looking at?
Seriously, to even join the Canadian Army, you need to go through a series of interviews and academic tests.
You need to have finished high school or grade 11.
You need to have a good character background.

After that, there is basic training for the military in general. If you do not have the mental abilities and basic toughness to last through this, you are "released".
Then comes basic trades training.
If you are going into combat arms, this is very long and hard. If you are specializing in infantry, this is 10 months long, and has very stringent standards.
A TQ3 basic training course for the PPCLI, for instance, may have, for example, 93 candidates at the start, but only graduate 26. The rest are released over the long months of the course.
Many PPCLI soldiers have college and university educations, while not even becoming officers. This is because of the pride one feels as a member of this regiment.
Some of our officers have post graduate degrees and masters degrees.
One joins the Canadian Army because one wants to serve, and help those in other countries gain their freedom and security.
One remains a soldier, through pride in the regiment and its accomplishments.
There are no "screw-ups" or "dumb" kids here.

First of all that's a very reckless and immature thing to say about people you don't even know. I'm sure there are people that think you drag this world down to, for god's sake man you are no better than anyone else on this sh#t hole planet!

The reason the poor people join, is because often, they are left with no choice...the rich go to college and, stay rich or get richer, the poor cannot afford to go to college and hence, stay poor(and by F#ups, i assume you mean poor people)There is a growing gap between the classes in america, read the paper you ignorant bat.
