Including leadership skills? Because I will be graduating College soon and joining, and let me tell you this, I have NO idea about Military organization and tactics at all, do they teach you that there?

OCS is a ninety day course (hench the name "90 Day Wonders"). After you have received your commission and they pin your butter bars on, the military then will sent you to schools for all that stuff. |

If you'd like to learn about OCS, you can visit www.ocsfoundation.org to learn more. They link to separate sites that are specific to each branch. I've been looking into the Marines myself, and the Marine site has been quite helpful. They also have recommended reading lists, those books are very helpful.
For the Marines, OCS is more of a proving ground, to see if you have what it takes to actually learn to be an officer. After OCS, candidates that pass go to The Basic School, and that's where you'd learn how to shoot, navigate, etc. Any skills you need to know will be taught, but as far as being a good leader you either have it or you don't.
Go to the website of the branch you are interested in and request more information. They will send you a packet of resources. You can then contact an OSO (Officer Selection Officer) in your area, who will answer your questions.
Get into good shape beforehand, because you'll be doing a lot of running!

They will teach you what you need to know. They will not let someone who knows nothing about how the military works lead troops into battle. Don't worry, you will get all the training that you need. |
