You go where the Army tells you to go. Nobody joins the Army "just" for training and then expect to get out of a deployment. Deployments are an expectation with service. Even us nurses have to train with the idea that, should our hospital come under attack, we defend the hospital and ourselves. I don't care to fire an M16 but I qualify with one because it is expected. If you don't want to go to war, then please don't join.

No you cannot join just for the training. In order to join you must swear an oath. If your unit deploys either you go with them or you get charged! If it is the physical training you want go join a gym near a military base and get a GI to help you out.

Join the Army just for training? What the hell do you think you do in the Army? Running drills all day? No, you will have a specific MOS you will WORK in. Of course training and physical standards will still apply. The Armed forces are a cohesive machine of different jobs and responsibilities, it is not a training camp 24/7.

You will take an oath and have to honor that with your commitment to the Army and the US.
You don't enlist to "train", you enlist to work and serve. And yes, if you receive order to deploy.....you deploy.

Never ever join the military without ASSUMING you will be deployed. we are fighting two wars right now. If your afraid to deploy, don't sign up.

There is alot of variance in your question. It is possible for an 11Bravo Infantrymen not to get deployed and it is also possibler for a Cook to get deployed. That does not mean its likely but it is possible. Honostly, you might not think so, but joining the Army and not being willing to join the war is not vary honorable. When drill sergeants are looking at you they will look at you with pride if you are joining the Army during an active war time like today. If you do not want to join the war or atleast if you are not willing, DO NOT JOIN. I am sorry for this bad news, but you are not going to be the same in training if you are not willing to join the war. Why do you want the training anyways? Our Army is to help protect the men and women of the United States. If you only go there for training, what are you going to use it for? If you want to be like the people in the movies that are in the army and when someone touches them they kill them, then I would have to say that you need to go to war to become somehting like that.
