Why oh why does everyone think that if something is on a screen then it must be truth? I mean come on! It's a MOVIE! Can't things just ever be something for entertainment and not be turned into something controversial? Must everything always be taken so seriously? Aren't there enough real issues to worry about without having to worry if this movie will be offensive (and I don't care if it is anyway) or without worrying if that comic strip will be offensive? *sigh* |

Just given the scenes shown in the preview, I think you'd have to be nuts to think this movie was any kind of "documentary" of the facts.
Just sit back, relax, and enjoy it for what it is - an action/drama with over the top special effects.
I don't think most Americans come away from flicks like this thinking any less of another race. Do you?

Eh, Braveheart was historically incorrect as well. I'm not sure if this was intentionally made/released to correlate to the tensions we're having with Iran now, but to me it just looks like another fantasty-ish war epic designed to rake in the cash. |

Anyone with intelligence and alittle historical knowledge is aware that the Aryan / Persian people had a terrific culture and empire at that time. For those who don't... tune into the History Channel some night instead of "Survivor".
The story is based on the Battle of Thermopylae, where 300 Spartans held off the Persian Army and prevented the conquest of Sparta and Athens.
I've heard only alittle about the MOVIE, but it seems like a comic-book version of the events... ignoring facts and going overboard on special effects and other crud.
Iran / Persia were and are a wonderful people. |

No, Hollywood does not want to make anyone look bad. Hollywood wants to make money.
The writer of the script maybe wanted to do that though. I have no doubts that the film has nothing to do with reality, as is the case many times in Hollywood.

The movie was loosely based around a battle taht really did happen. And persia was very much like it was in the movie at that time and controlled a large amount of the world actually. The movie isnt historicly correct but its not a republican conspiracy or something, they probably started working on this movie before bush was even elected. |

Here is the story of 300:
301 Spartans go to stop the Persians. One comes back and through the narration and the end we learn that one guy was making a battle speech to his fellow Spartans. Battle speechs always degrade the enemy and glorify the friendly units. Just look what the Greeks said about the Trojans, which was the Greeks performed a simple trick that caused the Trojans to fall. That story was told hundreds of years after the actual war. Even the original story of the 300 Spartans (in which the Spartan King was crucified) was written long after the battle happened. |

Hollywood's job is to entertain for profit--and it doesn't let historical accuracy get in the way.
As for making Persians (i.e., Iranians) look bad, how can Hollywood hurt their image any more than they do themselves? They are their own worst enemies.
If they don't wise up, they may feel the sharp edge of Western Civilization again--soon. |

The Battle of Thermoplyae was a real event people(I think I spelled that wrong) I don't know how you got that as arian people(I'm pretty sure thats spelled wrong) being insulted. It was a historical event. It F****** HAPPENED!!!! Do not take offense from something you obviously do not understand. SOOOO many world issues started that way..... |

Three hundred isnt a big fat lie.It acctually happened but the historical accuracy is questionable example:the monsters in 300.IT isnt making persians look bad its telling the truth. |
