Yes. There is a Zero tolerance on drugs. We have compulsory drug tests on military bases. A number of people are randomly selected and the gate security is tightened. You have to report for the drug test, An NCO watches you wee into a tube (terrible for those with stage fright). The gate guard has a list of personnel. If you're on that list, you are not allowed to leave the base (even for a newspaper) and can be arrested if you try it until the all clear tannoy message is transmitted.

If you're found to test positive for ANY illegal drug (Including Class C) you are charged, possibly sent to military prison and are Dishonourably Discharged (fired) unless you have a BLOODY good excuse (medical reasons).

They are VERY strict on it, and I agree with this policy. Drugs are detrimental to the work environment and the military give their people rifles and let them handle explosives and vehicles. Drugs are a serous no no because of this.

E5-E6 you MAY be discharged.

E7 and above, you're out.

Depends what you were caught with, how much you were caught with and why you had it.

Oh and seeing as you were asking about discharges in a different question? if you were trying to get out to beat the drugs charges? forget it, your almost certainly going to to military prison.

There was a time when this was not the case, but now your only help would be a medical prescription. Example, positive for codeine, (prescription from dentist after tooth removal).

If you get caught using them then the answer is likely to be yes, on the other hand if you admit you have a problem, before being caught, and ask for help in stopping then the answer is more likely to be no.

It is classed as an administrative discharge if you do get dismissed

I hope the military still hands out those Dishonorable Discharges for this violation. Thankfully they did when I served.

YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!! and more yeses!!!! any I mean ANY scheduled drug including prescription pain killers steroids, and certian cold meds not prescribed to you by a MILITARY doctor can and will show up on a drug test and if positive you WILL be discharged. no ifs ands or buts about it.

Listen, the answer is NO! However if the person that you are talking about had drug related problem in the past it is likely that he/she is going to get DISHONORABLE discharge from the Military not matter the branch.

Find a military or civilian lawyer that is experience in this type of litigation and the chance on not getting kick out are much higher.
