Both, probably. A riposte to China, which was long overdue. And how better to sweeten it up than disguising it as a service to mankind? Really, those PR guys in the government make me shudder. |

If they didn't shoot it down, and it hit some populated country somewhere...
you'd probably be on here hyperventilating about
'why didn't we DOO something!!!' |

i suppose if i told you the word "gullable" was not in the dictionary, then you would go look to see huh? if they wanted to do a test then why tell the whole world? if they wanted to just show off force then why shoot at such a low orbit where there are no sattlites? if they wanted to just test thier weapons then why waste a super high $ sattlite? why does everything have to always be a conspiracy for you? hmmm, let me see, a greyhound bus has filled its fuel tank with some toxic fuel like radioactive waste & it is falling out of the sky... now there is a 1 in 100 chance it would land near anybody so what the heck lets just not do anything & see what happens.... duh, whadya think?!?!?!?! |

If it was a show of force, do you have a problem with that? If so, only China can blast a satellite to smithereens, scattering hazardous junk all over space, while the USA is not supposed to shoot down a potentially dangerous satellite in a safe, controlled way? |

Yeah I do.
I know that there are plenty of kooks who thrive on conspiracy BS. Nothing is ever as it seems. These nut cases aren't the enlightened few, they are the deranged minority.
Good grief Charlie Brown!!! |

No
It was taken over by little green men. |

That satellite hit the United States it would have killed roughly 50,000 people if it hit a city. Anti-Satellite Interceptors were not in the area and had to send up one of their ground based Anti-Satellite Missles. And, judging by how old it was I think it had a nuclear reactor in it. And, destroyed it at a safe distance. That is why it could not have been retrieved by the Shuttle since the reactor core was leaking.
And, since it was heading to the US I do not think you wnat Hydrazine in your water supply.

Wow, i just watched the event on cable tv!
I am glad i live in the USA, imagine if our attitude was like the middle east?
With all the technology and military hardware we have it would be a matter of weeks before we would take over the World!
Truthfully, this is why the Lord's hand is over us, we not only have all the power at our disposal but we also have the humble humility not to use it improperly.
Other countries are very fortunate concerning the above!

Anything is possible; I am very worried though about these hazardous chemicals that they say will be entering our atmosphere. |

Yes, it was dangerous because it was as big as a bus, full of nuclear energy and you never know where it would hit the earth. If it hit the earth it would release huge amounts of radioactive energy, just like a nuclear bomb. |

Absolutely not. I think it was an experiment of some sorts. |

Who seriously bought any of that PR spin?
The toxic fuel would've just dissipated in the upper atmosphere and couldn't have hurt any of us - it's basic science. Of course they were just having a bash, playing with their toys, showing that Reagan's Star Wars project still had a bit of spoof left in the old codger. haha |
