[ Hitler saw active service in France and Belgium as a messenger for the 16th Bavarian reserve infantry regiment. His behaviour as a soldier was considered somewhat sloppy, but he readily volunteered for dangerous missions such as taking dispatches to and from fighting areas. Unlike his fellow soldiers, Hitler reportedly never complained about the food or hard conditions, preferring to talk about art or history. He was twice cited for bravery in action, receiving the Iron Cross, Second Class in December 1914 and the Iron Cross, First Class in August 1918, an honour rarely given to a Gefreiter. During October 1916 in northern France, Hitler was wounded in the leg, but returned to the front in March 1917. He received the Wound Badge later that year, as his injury was the direct result of hostile fire. ]
Now any man who went through that much in a war is a hero to me... no matter what side he is on.
He was demented... but then he was ambitious too. And i suspect he was like me.. he couldn't stand failure. Especially ones own failures.... No wonder he was slightly off his rocker.
He saved germany's economy.
[ Hitler oversaw one of the greatest expansions of industrial production and civil improvement Germany had ever seen, mostly based on debt flotation and expansion of the military. The unemployment rate was cut substantially.
Hitler also oversaw one of the largest infrastructure improvement campaigns in German history, with the construction of dozens of dams, autobahns, railroads and other civil works. ]
Now a man like that is defenitely a hero for any nation...
Hitler was a brave man and a leader second to none... But was he a true Hero?
I DONT THINK ANYONE CAN OR SHOULD ANSWER... |

This question is out there for content, and has received a lot of replies as well. The answer is absolutely not, no way could this man ever be considered a hero. However we must remember what he did and make sure that this is a case where history does not repeat itself. |

As my math teacher puts it - If you win you are the hero! and if you loose you are the villian.
Hitler's quest for power was perfectly fine - infact, anybody with dreams probably wants what he was doing.
BAD POINTS:
He allowed his scientists to carry out extremely inhumane experiments and concentration camps - WORST MASS LEVEL SHT THAT HAPPENED. |

You have to save someone to be a hero. |

If you look at him in a certain perspective you could consider him a hero, and if he was a peaceful leader he would most certainly be praised as a savior of Germany.
I say you have to look at it in a certain light. Germany was made to pay unfair reperations for thier role in WWI causing massive inflation and a recession. However Hitler WAS a soldier in WWI, so as a regular soldier fighting for his country he was a hero. Also, he gave Germany back thier economy and thier pride(by military means). So, he helped Germany get back on its feet.
The best and most common reaction to this would just be to go with what the history books say and think of him as an insane monster for all his warmongering and genocide. |

He was an anti-hero. Before WW2, even Gandhi thought that Hitler was doing wonderful things for Germany. But he was selfish and evil and wrought insane destruction on the world, so in being admirable he is doubly abombinable. He turned what could have been a great national triumph into a image of hatred and destruction. He sullied the many chirstians that supported him by making them look like total ignorant dupes. This is how he earns the name "antichrist" - not simply because he caused great evil, but because he convinced so many christians that he did it in the name and with the blessing of Jesus. |

Hero, no! He was a brilliant civil leader completely turned around the post WW1 economy of Germany, triple digit inflation at one point, I think. But the atrocities that he committed entitles him to a special place in hell. |

Not a hero, because he had a huge tragic flaw, but he was a very influential, charismatic, and thus successful leader despite his killing a bunch of people. |
