Do you say that soldiers who want America not in Iraq are wrong?
Find answers to your legal question.

Do you say that soldiers who want America not in Iraq are wrong?

Ok so everybody knows that the soldiers are brave. So they are over in the war fighting for you but then some come back to USA and say Americans should not be there because it is Iraq civil war. What do you say to them? Do you say they are wrong? How do you know unless you go there youself? Not every soldier say this, ok. But some do.
In America you had something like civil war and Lincon was there ok. Is it right for other countries to be in America when you had civil war? I don’t know if they were but would it be ok for them to be in the middle of you fight.
I don’t know. I am just asking. I am not in fighting so I can’t say. But the soldiers that say America should get out are you calling them a coward?. I hope not unless you go fight instead of them.
So just because if they do not agree that America should be there does that make them a bad soldier. NO. Let them come home.

Thank you for good answers so far. No body is being mean.

if they don't have a say in this war then who does

Are Iraqi war veterans who want America out of the war in Iraq wrong? If you are driving your car and you cause an auto-accident are you required to stop and render aid? If you involve yourself in the affairs of other nations and destroy their government, leading to a civil war, what would you do? Just bail out, perhaps invade another country? Would that make you a bad politician? I'm just trying to rephrase your question.

"so everybody knows that the soldiers are brave"
Ha! what a crock of ****! United Statesian soldiers are among the best prepared psychologically, better trained physically, have the most advanced weapons from stealth weaponry to pilotless drones in the sky, by far the most advanced technology the world has EVER seen and outnumber the (fighting) enemy five to one. The enemy fights with half century old rifles, hand made explosive and the cover of dark.

If the United Statesian soldier get injured they get the best medical treatment science can give, the soldier gets life long monetary compensation and the man/woman treated as a hero. The enemy gets injured he gets his wounds treated with mud and hope the bleeding stops. For the rest of his life he will have to provide for himself as a crippled and in nations were there are no special considerations for people with disabilities.

I could go on and on but you get the idea, a 120,000 strong United Statesian army fighting a 20,000 to 30,000 strong resistance hardly qualifies the United Statesian soldier as brave or courageous.

The United Statesian soldier is neither wrong nor right, he is doing his job. The United States may be wrong or right in intervening but the soldier is simply fulfilling his duties.

Yes France intervened in the United Statesian civil war, France's naval forces blocked the British army from retreating and their canons leveled the otherwise impregnable British forts. They also provided assistance with money and munitions. Mr. Franklin was the architect of that.

Soldiers while on duty, can not speak their mind. They are not allowed because doing so would be demoralizing to the rest of the troops. After they've left active duty as a civilian they have the right to criticize their government all they want but NOT while on active service.

I say they are American citizens and they have EVERY right to express their beliefs. And as former soldiers - more than most.
I bow to such as them.

America should be in Iraq because its not a civil war yet. America is trying to stop Iraq from having a civil war and keep the peace. If it becomes a Civil War officiley, were outa there theres ntohing we can do any more. On the news you only see the soldiers who hate this war. Well alot of soldiers are proud to be there and think we should be tehre! Actualy, Im proud to say that im one of those soldiers, i just came home. I am proud of this war and so were about 500 of my men! i only met a handful of men who didnt like the war.

I must agree with Sgt B on this one. No one forced the soldiers to be in the military. There hasn't been a draft since Nam. Generally you could say the 'true soldier’ enlists because of his love for his country and freedom. But now days, many have enlisted for an EDUCATION. They didn't really think they would HAVE to serve. Before Kuwait, probably most of the National Guard signed up for an education and a future career, a career NOT in the military. But part of their contract is to fight if necessary.

I firmly believe that a TRUE soldier, one who GENUINLY loves his country, his president, his family, God, what ever, wouldn't even CONSIDER criticizing his president OR a war he might find himself (or herself) engaged in. To do so would go against their very NATURE...the REASON they are soldiers. They are WARRIORS of the truest nature and willing to loose EVERYTHING to protect what they love and hold dear to their heart.

So, do I think that returning soldiers who criticize and say we shouldn't be in Iraq are wrong? We are still IN this war and will be for years to come, if not in Iraq then somewhere else. All the soldiers who criticize are doing is to DRAG DOWN their fellow soldiers, the ones who have returned home and even WORSE, those who are still in the battle, in harms way. IF they want to be DISCHAGED from the military and no longer except the pay they get, THEN they should do so and they can criticize all they want. But this country is PAYING their wages, wages THEY signed up to receive, and they OWE their allegiance to their country AND President. Don't they realize or CARE that they help to embolden the enemy and consequently may CAUSE harm to their fellow citizens (soldiers included)?? Shame on them!

It's so easy to "Bush bash" and criticize our president and assume WE know his motives for the decisions he has to make. If we were in his shoes, who knows exactly how we would decide about Iraq or anywhere else? Kids so often THINK they understand everything. And when their parents make decisions the kids don’t like or agree with, they wonder WHY on earth those decisions were made, when according to THEM (the kids); the opposite should have been done. But when the kids GROW UP and become parents they find out why parents make certain decisions...often HARD decisions, even if they seem ridiculous at the time to their kids. I only use that analogy to press the point that it is FAR too easy to criticize and 'second guess' the President, when we have NO idea of the intricacies of the job.

I firmly believe in my heart that invading Iraq WAS what we had to do. Anyone who doesn't think that Saddam was a DANGER to the United States and that he didn't want to see our destruction is only kidding themselves. Saddam wanted to rule the ENTIRE world, thought that he was the reincarnated King of ancient Babylon, and that his CALLING was to rule over us and everyone else. Papers have been found that proved Al Qaida was in contact with him. IF mistakes were made about invading (and I'm not saying that they were), to me it might be that our military underestimated the enemy. After Kuwait, it looked like we could win a war with far less than we needed in Iraq. And yes, that was a BIG mistake. But I still say we have no right to second guess. We aren’t sitting in the leaders seats. We DON’T know the whole story.

I often wonder just how far people who think we should just ‘sit back’ and ‘wait’ for the war to come TO our shores (yet AGAIN), would do if some one decided to physically take their home and possessions away from them.

Say a man is just living peacefully in his home, on his street, in his neighborhood, in his city….. and a group of people from another place let it be known that THEY decided to move into that city and physically TAKE over the citizen’s homes and possessions. How FAR would that man be willing to allow these people to get? Would he wait until they actually were IN his city, before he would be willing to defend himself, to put himself in possible danger? Or maybe he could tolerate the threat until they were in his neighborhood, or perhaps even until they were on his street. Maybe he could wait until they were standing right on the sidewalk, IN FRONT of his house. Maybe THEN he’d think “Hmm....these people ‘might be’ serious, I may have to fight for my home, my things, my FREEDOM.” At this point a pacifist might think “I HOPE they don’t do that, maybe they’ll change their minds”. Or they might think that if they just LAY DOWN and let the aggressor(s) walk ON them, their tolerance will make the enemy ‘regret’ his aggression to the point that he’ll go away and leave them in peace. Not likely!

When an enemy TRULY HATES you and WANTS you dead, and BELIEVES that he’ll be rewarded after laying down his life with MUCH more than he will ever have in THIS life, pacifism DOESN’T do ANYTHING to STOP that enemy. All it does is buy the enemy MORE time, to plan MORE ways they can do harm to the intended victim(s).

To me, THIS is the difference between a ‘dreamer’ and a ‘realist’. The dreamer wants to believe that everything will work out OK if he just gives it enough time. Those who hate him with a vengeance, who hate him simply because he’s not like them won’t REALLY go as far as really HURTING him. And you know why he believes that? He does because he doesn’t understand that evil really DOES exist and there are people and groups of people who really WILL kill and destroy others for NO other reason than they think differently, or have differing beliefs that are against THEIR ‘ideals’. The world is FULL of these people and in this war we recognize them as Islamic EXTREMISTS or fanatics. How MANY times do people have to blow themselves up ONLY just so that they can kill thousands of innocent people along with them selves??? How MANY planes have to crash into buildings, into oceans, into houses, hospitals, restaurants, schools, etc. before the pacifist(s) UNDERSTANDS that the TRUE soldier, true patriot, true warrior, WON’T wait until the danger is at his door step?

Everyone has their opinion and thats what is so nice about this country THEY CAN SPEAK IT! oh wait.. not with Chimpy in office. The military man or woman who can stand up for their beliefs and how they feel even in the face a their commander is the greates soldier of all.

I believe that you are going to think whatever you want. Everyone is entitled to that but if you are in the military you should keep your mouth shut about it. Either way if you are against it or for it you are going over there so whats to point of voicing against it.

As a military member I think you should back up your commander (President Bush). So no matter what your opinion is you should just stay positive about the situation and move on. Dont ago around publicly stating that you disagree with Bush and he should be out of office because then you are putting him down and looking at being charged under the UCMJ....

Just my 2 cents.....

This isn't as easy as black and white. Every soldier is entitled to their opinion and should not be judged for it. It is easy to see why someone that has been over there risking his life says that the reason why they are over there is wrong. I always believed that my husband went with all the right reasons in mind -- but was sent for all the wrong. He went to make a difference in the lives of the Iraqi people, and he did. His unit rebuilt 2 schools and 3 orphanages. They put a lot of order in what used to be lawless chaos. They stopped a lot of Bad people. But there were also some bad times. My husband is proud of what he did (from a human point of view) and he would go again if sent. Then again we had a lot of guys in our unit that felt different. I still respect them for what they've done and respect their opinion. Then again there are a few that come back, lying about what they were doing there, shedding a bad light on our soldiers and their dedication.
However sometimes the question arises if what our boys do over there truly is for the safety of the US. Wouldn't we be better off to have our soldiers guard our borders, airports, embassies, etc? The recent developments show that we are in no way safe from terrorism, and that trampling all over Baghdad really doesn't make a difference.
In the end, noone really will know for sure what the right thing would be for our country and the world. One thing about terrorists --- they're unpredictable.

I'm sure there are a lot Military people that don't agree with this war, and even the ones that do agree with it still don't enjoy being over there! I'm sure they would much rather be at home with their loved ones in the safety of their own house, but that's not the way the Military works. When you enlist in the Military, you're not given the chance to decide what wars you will and will not fight in. Nowhere in the contract does it say you'll get to stay home if there is war that comes up and you don't agree with it, or if you get sent off to fight in a war and then decide you don't want to be there, that you get to come home before everyone else does. If you don't want to take the chance of ever fighting in war, being away from your family for months and months at a time, moving around every few years, not being allowed to speak out against the President, and taking orders, then just don't enlist! I'll be the first to admit I couldn't handle being in the Military! I'm a Military wife, and that is stressful enough! But to be away from everyone I love for months and months...I don't know how they do it. When my husband leaves for deployments or anything else Military related, the kids and I miss him so much, but at least the kids and I are in the safety of our own home, and we have each other to lean on until daddy walks back through that door! But he has no family with him, and he is sometimes in a foreign hostel country. I admire my husband and people like him, because I think it takes a very brave and giving person to do what they do, but they decide to do it on their own and they know there are risk involved in their decision.

I am in the military, and I know that bringing our troops home early would do nothing but ensure they will have to fight the same people using the same tactics at a different time and place. The only difference is that we will be fighting a stronger enemy, because they will have already shown that those tactics will drive us away (first in Somalia, and now in Iraq if we pull out early).

Spent 34 years in the military, including in Viet Nam. It's not our call whether we should be there. I felt at the time that we should not be in Nam, but we were, so it was my job to do the job there. I was betrayed because the US government pulled us out before we could win, and made the deaths of everyone in Nam meaningless. I hope that they don't do that to us in Iraq. Let's finish the job we have. Whether you think we should or should not be there, or I think we should or should not be there, we are there. Let's finish it right and not wimp out like we did in Nam

how long will life in America remain the same if all the brave men & women stop sacrifice ,to keep freedom as you know it. america has to stay in the fight to the end. if not those that hate americans will come to america to kill men ,women ,old & young .the soldiers that say they should not be there are not cowards they just don't know what will happen.

If there would be a civil war in Iraq, we have to confess that it is there because of the American invasion. Namely, the Americans caused that civil war.

So, the Americans have to be prosecuted for that, and at the same time, should bear some hard time staying in Iraq for a couple of years. Ultimately, we shall have a list of more thousands of troops getting killed so as to deposit some more millions of US$ into Bush's bank account.
