Do you support the the military?

I was just wondering who supports the military. After reading all kinds of questions on here I see we have a lot of support and I think I speak for all of us by saying thank you and for thanking us all in person when we are out in uniform. It's really not necessary to pick up our check when we are out to eat, but it is much appreciated. Thank you all so much

Having a brother-in-law currently in Iraq and another brother-in-law on the way in a few months, I definitely support the military! I don't like seeing all the news blurbs about the US death toll everyday, but they are doing a job that they signed up to do knowing full well that they could die doing that job. Thank God and bless all the men and women over there keeping us safe so we can set at home and enjoy or families and lives! ;) |

Unequivocally. I support and admire the men and women of our military. Thank you so much for being who you are, the heros of America. Thank you for volunteering to put yourself in danger in order to grant us the freedom and life we live everyday. All of us owe you a debt that could never be paid. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....and PLEASE tell all of the brave people that you serve with that I said that, and mean it from the bottom of my heart. Also, if you are currently serving over seas, if you could think of one thing from home that you would like to have over there let me know, I try and donate as much as possible to you guys but I would really like to know first hand what would be most appreciated. |

Yes, I support the US military whole heartedly.
My father is Air Force (and so is my brother now), so I've grown up with the military values and I know how hard deployments/separation can be.
I grew up military and eventually married military - so I hold the highest respect for them all. The military has been and will always be the safest place for me to be. It's my family. |

Hi and thank you for your dedication to our great nation. I am a vet, US ARMY '96-'02. Honorably discharged with the death of my baby. I MUST give my full support to our military men and women fighting on MY behalf! For those of you who don't-RUN FOR OFFICE TO CHANGE POLICY!!! Until then, a simple 'thank you' is truly appreciated! Members of my family gave their lives without question in order for you to be here today. GOD BLESS THE USA. And God bless you! |

1/3 Armored Cavalry! All of my brothers have served in the military, my father, his father. I met my wife while in the military. Regardless of what political party has the White House, who is president, and whether or not is it peace time or war time, the military is here, ready to keep you safe, help in what ever national spectrum needs us. Whether its battling Al-Quida or Katrina, we are here! |

Hi Tim, Though I don't support war, I know that unfortunately, throughout history, war has been necessary because of the despot dictators who rule with fear and intimidation and kill and Mame any opposition to their regime.
History also shows us that religion has led many young men and women to die for some lunatic ideology.
We in the west lead free and democratic lives, this freedom would not be possible if not for people like yourself who are willing to defend the defenseless and put your life on the line to protect civilized values.
There is no glory in war, but a man or woman who puts a uniform on and is ready to answer the call of duty is something we all should be proud of and support in every way possible.
It is we, who thank you so much.
A grateful Australian. |

I will ALWAYS support the military, even when everything is FUBAR.
I am a vet. I served in the Air Force for 7 years. My father was Army for 30, and both of my grandfathers served before him. I have a sister who is currently deployed to the middle east, jumping out of airplanes and showing the Muslim world how a woman handles an M16 rifle. Now that I'm a civilian, I have a unique perspective. Not only have most of the civilians in America never served, they don't know anyone who has. Most of the folks out here say they have your back, and I believe they mean it as best they can. My gut feeling is that they don't really know what it means to support the military. They don't know what you want from them, but they really want you to know that they support you. Which is why they buy you dinner. Me, I've been in your boots. I know you don't need me to pay your way, so I probably won't buy your meal. But you can always get a cold one on my tab.
To set the cause above renown,
To love the game beyond the prize,
To honor while you strike him down
The foe that comes with fearless eyes;
To count the life of battle good
And dear the land that gave you birth
And dearer yet the brotherhood
That binds the brave of all the earth.

The military and the government are two different things. Our soldiers do not create the international policies that take them where they are, and neither does the president. The Federal government as a whole makes that decision. When you sit in your air-conditioned apartment staring at your LCD flat screen monitor reading yahoo q&a, typing things like "nope never have...." whatever your motivation for not supporting the soldiers, you are the reason they are there. You are the reason because you don’t vote. You are the reason because you do not stand up, there in the street where you live and say "I believe something is wrong, who is with me?" You are the reason they are there because it is your federal government that makes those decisions, based on your silence the govt makes it decisions. Hate the govt, despise the action, but respect the Spartan.
There are many neat sites where you can help soldiers, you can Google it or yahoo search it. Deployed military personnel do not want toothbrushes, cotton socks, toothpaste or soap. They got it. That's my job, I’m on it and they got it. They want all the stuff they wanted when they were home. The very little things make the greatest difference. A package of cookies, some skittles (chocolate candy doesn’t seem to make it sometimes so good Hershey, snickers the like) If Bill gates or Warren buffet are reading this, a couple laptops might be nice. But if your just a working class person, for under $40 you can put a smile on a soldiers face for days. Please no white cotton socks. (oh, and your intention may be good, but that bottle of Jack aint gonna make it.)
Here are a couple of nifty sites:

http://adoptaplatoon.org/new/
and if you don’t have the time, here is a turnkey site that seems pretty kewl:

Nope. I support the troops....the people doing a tough job to the best of their ability deserve support. I do NOT support policitians and higher ranking military decision makers that control the troops. |

I do not support any military. But I love every person affiliated with them. I just wish they could understand that we do not need to destroy one another. Wars since their inception have been started and maintained by banking and corporate interest to further their control over the population of Earth. If the soldiers refused to fight them it would all be over with, and we could find ways to share our resources rather than compete for them. |
