Do you support the war?

Johnny Guano
"I'm against the war but I support the troops" Nobody has ever figured out the meaning of this. It's one of those non confrontational, indecisive and overly sentimental phrases that mean exactly nothing. Those that say it are ,mentally and morally lazy. If you are completely opposed to the Iraq war, then basically you DON'T support the troops....since their mission is to stay in Iraq and conduct operations. Many people have no animosity towards the troops, and don't wish harm on them, but let's face it, they joined of their own feee will and must also take the share of criticism for doing a job that may or may not be morally right according to our viewpoints. So don't be lazy and use that phrase...say instead "I disagree totally with the US governments Iraq policy and the forces that are carrying out that policy, but I have no personal animosity towards the enlisted people who are ordered to comply, however, they shouldn't join if they are not prepared to take up arms for a misguided purpose."

God Bless our troops!

I am currently deployed and my duties directly support Operation Enduring Freedom. I do support this war because it is a war against terrorism. I chose this profession because I believe in what our country stands for and that's "freedom".
Some of the people back home may not agree with our leaders. Some call us uneducated, robots and say things about us I care not to repeat.
What I would ask of all of you is real simple. Right now you are back home in your house. With your family or friends and enjoying the holidays. Do me a favor today! Enjoy that time with your family and don't talk about the war for one day. If you have loved ones deployed then remember them and look forward to seeing them when they come home.
I think that for one day we can forget about the bad things and celebrate the good things we have.

Happy Holidays! :)

As a true American I support any conflict we are in, however one can question it.

No. I support peace, unity, and freedom. Frankly, we're in a shitty situation (and for the record, I didn't support the war in the begining), and there's not much of a chance we're getting out of it. Not to mention, we basically embarrised the Iraqi people. There wouldn't be such a mess in Iraq if the Iraqis themselves overthrew Saddam.

I am American and I support our country, troops and leader...The only way to win this is if the whole country gets behind it. Unfortunately, liberals are doing the exact opposite because of their hatred for President Bush. Pathetic example of Americans are FAR LEFT LIBERALS. They truly hate America and what it stands for.

YES I SURE DO! EVEN IF ONE DOESN'T, WE HAVE TO ACCEPT THE FACT WE ARE THERE AND WE HAVE A JOB TO DO. SO LET'S PUT ON OUR BIG PEOPLE PANTIES, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND HOPE SOMEONE HAS THE GUTS TO STAND TALL AND CARRY A BIG STICK.............

I support the troops but not this war. This war is false as was done for oil and greed. Our troops need to come home not keep being used as target practice. There is a difference between supporting the troops and not the war. I support the troops because they are doing what they signed up to do. Defend this country. They are obeying the commander in chief. It's too bad that when they return, the government does not do more to help them. But I guess with this administration unless you are healthy, a man, white and straight, and believe in Jesus, you don't matter

If I didn't I'd have better sense than to post it here. It is quite misguided to think you can support the troops and publish opposition to the war.
A half century ago General Giap announced to a world that wouldn't listen how he would drive the French from Indochina: he would fight with Maoist strategy until the French people got tired of fighting. It mattered not a whit what happened on the battlefield, as long as France got tired of it. Then he went and did it. He said he'd do the same with the Americans. He miscalculated in January and February 1968 and launched an operation that essentially destroyed the Viet Cong and severely wounded the North Vietnamese Army, and any reasonable analysis would have shown that the US was about to win the war, but the spin on the news back home was just the opposite, and we lost the war because of the negative spin. Thousands of US troops and countless Vietnamese died afterwards, and the US withdrawal allowed the massacres by Pol Pot next door. So the negative spin on the war was responsible for millions of deaths. Everybody but America understands this, especially our enemies, but we have this live-and-let-live idea that simply isn't how the world operates. We have to have a certain bloody-mindedness to exist in a world community. The alternative is to become completely isolationist. Oil we can drill off the California and Alaska coasts, if we just make California open up to drilling. But coffee, rubber, and countless other commodities we'd have to do without.

I do support the war and the soldiers.

How can you say you support the troops but not the war? Makes no sense whatsoever. They chose that life, they chose to join knowing the consequences, they chose to fight in this war for this country, so therefore if you support them then you support their decision and thats to support this war. Its one way or another...damn hypocrits.

I support people like Raptork9. For me to do that I have to fully support the cause they are fighting for.

I'll keep my comments limited to that out of respect for Raptork9.

Thank you sir for the sacrifice you are making on our behalf.

Take Special Care of Yourself. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

No. War is something stupid. Destroying human life, destroying family life's and bring just problems and more problems to these places.
Only one thing is: who start the war they just get rich and richer.
