I did two tours as a Navy DI (RCC). The second tour was in Orlando, before they closed it, so I had quite a few female recruit companies. It was a rare company, both male and female, that didn't have a few recruits who were in the mid to late twenties, sometimes thirties. In most cases, those were recruits who ended up in positions of responsibility (Recruit CPO, Yeoman, MAA, Section Leaders, etc).
I didn't join until I was 25...and there was a guy in my company who was 32. We were the "old men" of the company.
You'll be fine.
Go for it. |

Not a problem and you will find that while most of your fellow recruits are younger, you probably won't be the oldest. A lot of mid and late 20's join up as they take a look at their lives and see the military as a way to advance. |

24 should be fine to join the military, regardless of your gender. Being female has absolutely nothing to do with anything in regards to joining, it could indicate that you are more mature mentally though.
I joined at 21 and was better for the AF than if I joined at 18. |

32 is too old to join the Navy as a female or otherwise.
You'll find that boot camp may be a little rough on you because the majority of your peers will be younger, but there are other people your age in there. Besides. You survive boot camp, then the rest is all downhill.
I joined at 19, you're going to be just fine, I promise. You'll have immature people in boot camp, but the rest of the time you're not compiled in such a age defiant group. Once you go to your command, you'll find that the average age will be closer to yours.
Good Luck to you, its a great opportunity. |
