Do you think World War 3 is approaching?

Some believe that we are already in World War 5 which is the International War on Terror..with the preceeding being
1). The Seven Years War (French & Indian in North America).
2). What we commonly refer to as WWI
3 ). What we commonly refer to as WWII
4). The Cold War
All of which were fought on a global scale.

Yes, we are right on track,

The global war on terror forgets to mention that our enemy resides in almost every corner of the globe. A moderate Muslim can be turned into a terrorist if you happen to kill his relative, friend or the person becomes increasingly agitated by global events against his Muslim faith.

Second reason, you can't stop radical Islam. It's a way of thinking, not a state or place we can locate. Where does our War on Terror turn it's attention next?

Third reason, we need oil. There has been a plan for a pipeline through Iran for many years. We already have contacts in the former soviet union splinter countries known as the "Stans" Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan etc. They have vast natural resources that could ween us off Arab oil and make the oil companies BILLIONS of dollars. Where there is billions, wars soon follow.

Fourth reason, we always had a hatred for Iran for the hostage ordeal that they never apologized for.

Last, we won't think the war will be global, but we'll soon find only Israel and Britain as our only backers. Thus global radical Islam will be inflamed and be state sponsored on a level we've never seen.

We'll win, but at a huge monetary and human cost. Get ready for the draft. They'll even take my old behind.

1. Yes. The stage is set from both sides of th world.

2. Iran is pushing the world to action. They are actually working to galvanize the EU, US, UK and AU. We aren't in any agreement except where Iran is involved.

3. Ahmendinijad sees himself as the one who will usher in the Mahdi. Unless he is removed from power from within his country, the ball will continue to roll. Removal from outside will only make this worse.

yes, america is like the roman empire in its last days...fool of enemies....and there are others who are willing and can take his place....like china or EU.
but instead of having to fight a war against the US that would result in a extremely exensive conflict they are letting the US to cut its own throat..by invading the whole world and making lots of enemis....

Probably, though there's no telling when, or if it will be called ww3, or if it will look anything like we imagine it.

Global conflicts have been greatly suppressed for the past fifty years or so, due to fear of large opposing nuclear armories deployed around the world.

I think that long periods of relative peace however, as imposed by a dominant superpower for example, lead to progressively greater levels of repressed hostility that tend to produce a large war eventually.

- Conflicts continually arise that cannot be resolved other than by violence, and fester until they are.

- The population increases and with it competition for resources.

- More and more people lack any experience of major war, and so form their opinions and motivations regarding conflict with other peoples and nations based on vicarious, often romanticized or even pathological ideas about war.

- Economic activity unhindered by war means more and more resources are available to fight a war with.

- Likewise, a free exchange of knowledge and the advancement of general research in peacetime makes it increasingly likely that the state of current technologies applicable to war will change, quite possibly not in favor of the dominant power maintaining the peace.

- The vagaries of internal political intrigue make it almost inevitable that the power imposing the overall peace will experience some weakening through decadence, stupidity or mishap sooner or later.

Just my opinion. I'll cite the entire history of dystopic SF as reference. And the book of Revelations.

Oh, and people who think we're "in ww3 now" are examples of my 3rd point.

If Iran and the world Muslim fascism keeps going the way they are going....we are heading for WW4 (WW3 was the "Cold War" hot in places like Nam, Afghanistan in the 80's, etc)

yes soon everyone will realize what a retart bush is. his objective was to find osama bin ladin, and he is instead busy destroying other countries for no reason. seems like he is a bigger monkey than we thought. his latest issue is with iran, which will not end well. he is also agains india-iran pipeline, so he is pissing off indians also, which is again not good. india and iran can easily take down usa, if it were to come down to that. but knowing india it will probably not make the first move, and iran is indias natural ally, no matter what your government show you how good your relations are with india. india will prefer iran over usa, simply because we have ancestral lineage.
