none of those really have any bearing on getting into SF. as long as your male and dont have any medical issues then you can get into the 18X course, but ill be honest: it has a higher than 90% drop out rate. and thts not just only people right off the street thats soldiers who have been infantry or some other MOS for a while also. |

Suggest you work on your education......" real well"
The minimum requirement to be accepted in Special Forces is a GT of 110......most applicants have from 90 to 100..... you can not be a "dummy" and get into Special Forces
Having a second language will help (German.....10th Group)...but it guarantees you nothing
Physical Condition.....WHY WAIT?.... In special forces you run a minimum of 2.5 miles everyday.....and a minimum of 10 miles every month......the prep course is a back breaker....they push you to your limits and beyond..... you need to start now and work for endurance
"quick thinker"......you might be a little bias..... as to leading your paintball team.....you are right.....it is a crap example |

Josh,
If you can lead your paint ball team than you will rock in the Army! All joking aside, anyone who can dig deep and is intelligent can make it into special forces. The quick thinking is going to be your best friend and will get you farther than working out ever will. If it is what you want to do you can do it, as long as you stay out of trouble, graduate HS, and don't let your girlfriend convince you not to go.
Best of luck |

you will need to try and go ranger if you can.if not go infantry, parachute preferably. after you've become a specialist 4 then you can try but your unit would be hard to let you go until you've finished your commitment with them. there is one other way....if you finish a commitment and seperate honorably with a good record...then turn around and come back in you can go straight there as a candidate(18x) as prior service. not sure that it can still be done this way as it's been awhile.
um- paint ball has nothing to do with it. at all. there are a lot of skills to be learned in infantry that you are not going to find in paint ball...you could say it's like college...it's not for the stupid..you have to retain and be able to use this knowledge ...maybe the german will be helpful. good luck.
czar walters pretty much has the whole thing nailed down.
kojack- has it right also but a little shy on the running part-when you go to jfk, from day one you are going to run ten miles...atleast. it's not formation running...it's flat out running. your reward if you make the run is going to be an extra helping of assorted goodies such as picking up a section of telephone pole(which are readily available here and there.."oh, so thats what those are for") and running it around the block, rope climbing, really fun looking push-ups, and pretty much what the first seargent can create for you. by this point though, you are no longer hurting and you feel like you could rope climb with the "log" (i don't advise it)...the wash out on the runs is almost total. there might be ten guys left. this does not disqualify you though for sfas, but it is an indicator. the mission of the morning run seems to be to give you a chance to think it over first. if this sounds "harsh" then you may want those years of infantry first to prepare yourself. infantry is no cake walk itself....all in all, the coveted green beret is not for everyone. and not just the physical side...the far greater of this is that it may simply not fit you. in that, you may not want the job. |

Better start training more. Take a look at the screening test for the SEAL's (see link) you must pass this test just to be considered.
If you can't swim well I would consider getting some lessons and training in the pool. |

Before you consider this, read this:

And don't think foolishly that it won't happen here because certain government officials HERE have already stated that people in the military coming home are dangerous to our society.
"In the days that followed, Napolitano also commented on an aspect of this report which stated that veterans returning from on-duty service were being targeted by right-wing extremist recruiters to commit acts of domestic terrorism.
