Honestly I would do college first, join ROTC then after you graduate you can go in as an officer. But that's my opinion.
You could also attend college while in the Marines, afterwards do OCS. The best officers were enlisted first, in my opinion. |

I joined the Marines a few years after High School I also went to college.it will be one of the best choices you've ever made to know that you earned the title to be one of the Few and one of the Proud a United States Marine. |

I can't answer that question for you. Do you want to be an officer or enlisted? You can start there and figure out what is right for you. If you enlist are you going to make the effort to take night classes and get your degree? |

It depends if you want to enlist as an Officer or not. If you want to enlist as an officer, you have to have a college degree. Or if you just want to be an enlisted man, then join right after high school. The government will pay for your schooling after you join the Marines. Im thinking about joining the Marines. Basic Training is hard as hell, but its worth it. And just a little advise, Never EVER look up when eating in basics training, and eat as FAST AS YOU CAN, and dont get seconds.... |

if you actually have a desire to go to college - do that first. You may change your mind during your journey through college |

I would go to college first while you are still in the mind set of school. The Marines will train you to be a soldier, and you will loose that school mentality. |

nah just wait, get a degree and then join, you'll get a higher rank like that rather then going after high school and then serving there to rank up.education comes first :D |

I joined the Royal Marines Commandos when I was the ripe old age of 26! So you may think my advice is a little biased, but I would say without doubt you should finish your schooling. If you're considering a commission (officer entry) then I would definitely go on and do something at College or University as well - you can even get sponsorships for this.
On a personal note I think the age limit to joining should be raised to 18. One of the great things about joining up as a soldier is that it almost freezes you into the age you are when you join up! We're all Peter Pans! But remember that your military career is 22 years long, so you can be finished your career by the time you're 40 and looking for another career while being paid a military pension!
Good luck |
