Do you think it's about time for American Troops to leave Iraq?

The news that the Shiite militia has taken control of Iraqi city is a serious moved of the militia to oust any foreign control in their country.

We're way past the time to leave. How many more deaths do you want? We aren't moving much forward anymore

Everyone wants our troops out of there. However, if we put our tail between our legs and leave without winning we will be subjected to increased hostility. We cannot back down to bullying and perceived as being weak or we will be fighting on our own soil.

The world is a dangerous place today and their is no way we can run away from it.

The price of 'peace at any price' will be even more horrific to human lives and the USA will never be the same.

It is ludicrous to think the U.N. will do anything.

its time for american troops to leave everywhere .. get your own country fixed before you try and show us how not to do it ....again

Why do you worry about it. Do you think this is a game where you can just take your ball and go home. We have leaders and generals in the field for this type of decision. If anything you should question if we have the right people keeping an eye on the situation. Also remember there are corporations trying to sell news papers and commercial time on T.V. and they need you to watch and read to get paid. They also realized that they can influence people to there point of view if they reorganize the facts just a little bit. Get smart on how the world works and have a plan to protect yourself because that's all you can partially control.

What would leaving do? It would cement the U.S as a loser and leave us vulnerable to attack. There will always be instability in the middle east. Peace is out of the equation. We need to unite and give our troops 100% of our backing and confidence.

I was part of the first wave to go in in 2003 and was part of the 21st CSH that built the hospital in Mosul. I was there 5 months, 28 days, 16 hours, and 27 minutes until I got on a plane to Germany b/c I was wounded by an RPG. I hated every second of my time in tht hellhole of a country. Every one of us knew exactly how long we had been away from home. We all wanted to get onto a plane and fly home as soon as possible. Even though I was wounded I still felt badly b/c my friends weren't leaving with me.

The absolute and brutal truth of the matter is this: We can't pull out until there is a solid government in place.

If we "cut and run" like we did in Korea and Viet Nam then the place will go into complete anarchy while the factions tear each other apart. That would mean that the oil production from the area would drop to nearly nothing and we could be looking at oil prices at about $200 a barrel. That would mean that you would be paying about $10 a gallon for gas. That kind of price on energy would put a massive strain on the US economy and eventually the world economy. The smaller, poorer nations would be strangled off even more and could easily lead to major political upheavals all over the world. The lower classes here in the US would be strangled by a lack of available affordable energy and could lead to serious unrest here.

This could all be avoided if we were allowed to tap into the oil fields that we already own in Alaska, but are currently protected by federal law.

The fact is that, unless we pull our heads out of our collective butts and 1) deveop renewable energy sources, 2) allow drilling of our own oil fields, and 3) don't leave Iraq until there is a solid, stable government in place, we would be cutting our own throats.

Incidentally, if you think I'm dreaming, OPEC just voted today to reduce oil production by 1.3 million barrels of oil per day to drive prices back up.

When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them.

No, I _don’t_ work for these guys.

I bought a complete, new system from them with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the makers. They gave me the code ATX926 to get a 10% discount at checkout. Try it to see if it works for you.

I don’t know HOW they are so cheap, but they are. Plus, I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.

Good luck!

As much as I hate this war that our President has declared on Iraq, we have to see it through.

Yeah, I guess so. But I think it ironic that we broke it but won't be around to fix it. This is a bloodstained administration.

The foreign control you speak of, I believe, is the insurgency. If the militia's thoughts are to attack Americans, too, that really puts a new spin on things. The biggest problem with Shiite militias is their affiliation with Iran. On the other hand, if they too are fighting the foreign insurgents, perhaps this move is part of the solution. It sure is complex! On the other hand, if the anti-American cleric Sadr is behind it, a new problem is on the table.

Sadr is a lackey for Ahmadinejad, so no good can come out of his gaining control, in Iraq. This could be Iran's first attempt to gain a foothold in Iraq, if that is the case, the US should consider destroying Sadr's army, once and for all.

If US leaves it should leave a redeemable impression. The US needs to define it's purpose there so vicious propaganda that makes US look like cold-blooded killers won't hurt. More peace talks like Sec Rice's could help. Either stay , define goal & get job done or bow out gracefully with a statement of how we we there to help democracy and lost lives also. Why aren't all countries involved in this freedom cause helping US troops defeat terrorists as they are trying to control this world by force, and if this is just a start--what's next if they're not stopped. All countries should be seriously involved in this mob-takeover's defeat asap.

Based upon all the lies, the undermanning to try do the job the lies created, long overdue - get them home now. The situation will onlly worsen and the conflict spread. I don't seen anything good coming out of this and expect it to worsen weekly. Some people need to wake up and admit they made many mistakes - but egos get in the way.

Although I dislike that we are in Iraq, we have to see this and Afghanistan through until the end. We must instill order and find out what are the supply lines for these insurgents and destroy them.

Jenessa
what? your little extra doesn't make sense to me.

as for them leaving - do you really want to leave all those innocents at the hands of the shiites and the sunni? it's amazing to me how much people take the news verbatum for fact. the news is out to get ratings, just like every other program. stories that aid their rating are what they are going to focus on, that is why you hear pretty much only failures.
talk to someone who has been there - they will give you a far better perspective. often those who are not shiite or sunni are aiding the soldiers in finding the insugents.
