Yes. I think it's already started in the Middle East.
I don't think WWIII will be the nuclear holocaust we feared during the Cold War, though. It will be at least as serious as World War I and maybe as damaging to the Middle East as World War II was to Europe.
US - Middle East relationships have become too polarized to avoid it. The controversy over Dubai Ports World, a company from a pro-Western Arab country, the election of terrorist groups in Palestine and Lebanon, a Shiite theocracy being elected to govern Iraq, US-Iran relations, US-Pakistan relations, Turkey-Iraq relations. It all adds up to a situation that's spinning out of control. |

In the lead up to world wars, there have been pointers that things weren't going well, but it's difficult to read whether the events that are happening at the moment are so bad that they would spark a world war.
There have been political situations that have been worse than they are at the moment that haven't led to a world war, like the Kennedy/Kruschev exchange. Until it happens I think it would be impossible to predict. |

North Korea is talking with south Korea. Castro may be stepping down. Sadam is dead. The children are getting older. With all they are learning in school about world religions and cultures, global warming, saying no to alcohol, drugs and tobacco, maybe they will be smarter than their predecessors. On the other hand maybe they will forget all they learned as children and become as stupid and narrow minded as their parents and grandparents. Idiots run the world and idiots support them. What can you do? |

Dont you realise the world is at war - right now!!!! - Every country is already fighting one cause or another or one country or another.
If there was no war - no one would need any of the Armed Forces and how many countries do you know without some form of military force.
I would rather wonder if there was ever going to be World Peace. |

In a literal sense a "World War III" in impossible. And here's why:
Nearly every nation is involved with foreign entanglements and junctures vowing their loyalty with another. Given the fact someone actually "declares" war on another, every country will be involved militarily. Even the most the most retarded leaders *coughbushcough* would not literally declare for for this and many other reasons.
You may hear "war" but it is not a declared war. Who knows, there could always be another but the chances now are slim to none |

I think we are witnessing the beginnings of one.
Don't believe me? Just look at history. When the previous world wars broke out they all said "It will be over by Christmas".
Its quite hard to see them coming y'know... |

In some cases i don't think there will be- not in our lifetime anyway. Reason being, as we look on the way the EU is going at the moment, eventually turning into something known similarly as the United States of Europe--forming as one large state, there would be less chance of a third world war. However if you class the way the Eastern world is turning out (Extremist Muslim occupied areas, Korea etc.) then well yes, i suppose there is a chance of a third world war corrupting peace.
The definition of "world war" is nothing but the involvement of numerous amount of countries against others, in my eyes.
The answers to this question rely simply on prediction and personal opinions. |

There's been a World War since 1945. More people have died in wars since 1945 than during it. |

Highly unlikely. The wars of the future will be local. terrorist-type wars. There's only one country in the world with the power to win a world war - America.
Russia returning to its old ways? So where was the world war there in the past. China has just learnt it can earn money from us, why would it want to go to war?
America has more nuclear weapons than the rest of the world put together, enough to annilate us all 10 times over.
So, there is only one country with the facilities who could start a world war - America. Is America likely to start a world war? |
