I think we'll pull out earlier than if a Republican is elected. Unfortunately, this administration has set us on a course to fix things before we bail out. The government is non-effective, the infrastructure is in tatters, and the people aren't safe. However, I do think the Dems will pull us out if all that's left to fix is our relationships with the owners of the oil rights |

This is what I answered about an hour or so ago.
I'm not trying to be political here, but it doesn't matter who our next president is, we're gonna be here for awhile. Democrat, Republican, Independant... doesn't matter. We can't leave this job half done. In all honesty, we will probably be here in force for a couple of years, if not more. Then, we might start drawing down to a more realistic size. But, we will have a presence here for a long time to come. Again, no politics here, just reality. And, if you want my take, whoever is voted in next will use it to their advantage to get re-elected if the draw down starts ohhhhhh.... in about 3 - 4 more years. |

no I do not. Even the democrates know that we cannot just abandon Iraq now. No matter what they say they know that this is true. No matter your stance on Iraq you have to look at this fact. The state of the country is because we are there good or bad. We have to see it through. Support the troops. |

does not matter who is elected, we are in Iraq, for the long haul,.....any politician who tells you different, is lying to you,..... |

It depends upon the Democrat. Hillary and several others seem to feel that we should maintain some sort of troop level in Iraq. Obama and Richardson do not.
An abrupt exit sends a number of messages. Coupled with our retreat from Somalia, our enemies would be emboldened. Our friends, especially Korea and Free China would see it as a sign to begin to make other plans for their survival.
Despite wishes, the logistics of a pullout mean that it would take up to a year before we could have all our troops and equipment out. |

no i think that like korea and Germany we are going to have troops there for a while..... Once the country is stable then we most likely wont have the deaths that are happening now..... i havent reseached it correctly however i am sure that when we built post and bases in both Korea and Germany there were a number of death too.... |

i think every new presidential candidate wants to say "change, good change" like pulling candidates out of iraq. this is to escape the ctics that have demolished bush who was pro war. but i think we will always have them in there unless al queda is completely done for which is just impossible. so no. |

nope. I don't think we will ever leave there. |

Hillary recently had the ultimate cope out answer in an interview when she proclaimed, The first thing I'm going to do as president is bring our troops home as soon as humanly possible. Looks like they'll be there for many years, no matter who gets elected. |

If the democrats wanted to do something about it, they would have already tried. We have a democrat controller congress unfortunately, and they have yet to do anything but complain. They're useless and a democrat president would be useless as well. |

We would if Ron Paul got into office, but if he gets nominated he probably would be assassinated. |

They won't pull out because then they won't get "Pregnant" with tax increases to pay for the war.
Sorry.Bad pun.LOL!!! |

Hopefully...we've gained nothing from fighting all this time and I think it's time we end this nonsense. |

It's not a question of pulling out "early", whatever that means, but a question of pulling out, period. Get Bush out of office and there is a slim chance some measure of sanity in foreign policy might return... slim, but not likely.
Politicians spout all sorts of stuff just to get elected and once they do get elected it's back to the same old crap. Nothing much changes. |

No. only the pres or the military can pull troops out. congress only approves the funding. we will be in iraq FOREVER!!we are building a huge, 1 billion dollar embassy there, we are going nowhere. anyone who says otherwise is pandering. to the antiwar crowd. |

I don't know that we would leave right away but at least maybe the democrats can come up with a better plan, execute it and get the hell out ASAP. |
