no, a criminal is probably not going to put in the effort as our troops do to learn and train them selves for war.
also the crimes that would be done in Iraq would damage our image more
There is no way to supervise people you cant trust in a war, more troops(the ones supervising) would die from them not being able to concentrate on the war because they are supervising.
Lets not turn one of the most honorable jobs into a discusting piece of crap |

Stop it really you need people with integrity and commitment to be able to protect and serve in the military. We need people with rational minds because not all the people over in iraq are evil and bad. A convict probably could not tell the difference. |

I so agree with that. Here we are sending innocent soldiers, my husband being one of them, when we have more criminals than troops. No offence but this country is going to hell. It makes me feel pretty small to think that our government is more worried about our countries image than our people. |

No criminals will join Islam and will come back as Jihad instead of being a peacekeepers. |

To invade a nation with unjust reasons and lies itself is a crime and that make all US persons in Iraq a criminal. |

Criminals are criminals because they have no respect for authority or law. They would make the worst soldiers possible and nothing would be accomplished. |

Actually, they already are recruiting criminals -- please read the link before you accuse me of "troop bashing" --- |

yeah, let them do the crap like patrol and all the stuff that our soldiers are getting killed by. Then we can use our highly skilled soldiers to train the Iraqis and get out of there quicker. |

they are not good enough
if they had discipline they would not have been caught |

No.
If the whole reason we sent soldiers over there was to kill, we'd probably lose less of them. You must consider avoiding civillian deaths, the opposition from other countries who might see letting loose our crazies in Iraqi cities as unethical, and that the impression left on the Iraqi people of the people of the United States would be that of criminals. And besides, if our main force was dangerous criminals, we would still need to send troops over to supervise them.
Besides, giving convicted criminals military jobs overseas would lead to other bad things, such as increased drug trafficking, and increased arms smuggling, supporting organised crime here in the United States instead. |

yes the army should take convicts and criminals, because there life is worth less than a soldier fighting for his country....the bill of rights might disagree though. |

Its an excellent idea.... we should also take illegal (or any for that matter) immigrants and send them there too, then they can earn their citizenship (just as we did with the Irish during the Civil War) |

Please think about what you are saying logically. OK, you remove bad people from power ostensibly to give good people a chance at a better life. Introducing criminals into a battlefield will not bring an end to conflict, but will result in a more terrorised population as they will commit crimes to feed their own wills and the terrorists would not engage them as they are "unwanted", Therefore the police and village militia would be left with the task of fending them off. Wow! What a great way to put America's image further into the toilet. |

I think we should bring our army home, and replace them with the Salvation Army. They could recruit homeless drunks from their shelters to go to Iraq and fight. Kind of like bumfights, but with guns and bombs. Just keep 'em all drunked up, and they won't even know they're IN Iraq. |

Who says bring your troops home? Bury them there in Iraq and Afghanistan, why indulge in extravagance/luxury of flying their dead bodies home, a highly expensive option. The money spent in flying their dead bodies home could be well spent on making some more smart munitions and more killings, is 'nt it! |
