Does Army special forces see alot of combat?

wouldn't they be in combat even if there isn't a war because of terrorism???

The objective of the US military is to create a Defensive Posture, not to go looking for a war. During peace time, the military will spend it's time training and training and training. Did I mention training?

Special Forces infiltrate and support the population through training. They are the ones that go in and take a local rebellion or newly stood up nation - Iraq or Afghanistan- and train thier officers, and military. They act as "train the trainers" who then train others and eventually work into the US goals.

The other mission that the Special Forces do, secondary, is combat affiliated. This is usually very hush hush, but they do run missions that take a variety of special resources.

However, if you are interested in "secret" or "black" operations look into the development of the US Army Rangers or the Delta Force (I know, "they don't exist."). Those would be the official forces protecting "American Interests."
