We just found out we're pregnant, BIG YEA!!! However, my hubby is discharging (honorably) after 7 years in service this June. We haven't been able to find out for sure what, if any, insurance coverage we will have for the pregnancy, since he is getting out. He is joining the Reserves, in case that makes a difference. We've been told that TriCare will cover existing pregnancies thru birth and 6 weeks postpartum, but haven't seen it in writing or anything. Does anyone know the answer or can reference to an official site that can tell us? Oh...a little more info, he is in the hiring process of a DoD job, still government, so will that allow our benefits to carry over? Thanks for any info!!!

From what I've heard, yes. I've never seen this in writing either but was told this by our Family Readiness Officer who is trained to answer questions like that. The website below may help. It has a lot of information but sometimes it's hard to find what you're looking for. Good luck! |

why dont you just pick up tricare prime throug hthe reserves. yeah you will have to pay into it but it still beats the pants off BC BS. |

Best thing to do is call Tricare. They will know the correct answer. I agree however that the best option may be to pay for Tricare coverage therough the reserves if the cost is affordable. |

He can get Tricare through the reserves, and can get good health care through the government. Either way it sounds like yall are covered. I haven't heard about them covering existing pregnancies, but I don't know for sure. |

i think so! because your husband is still a military member, eventhough he is retired or whatever.
i think you should contact tricare and ask them though. |
