Does an E-5(P) with 14 yrs. service qualify for indefinite reenlistment?

Allow me to go into detail. The regulations states the SSG and above with 10yrs. must reenlist indefinite. My question should have been "Can anyone reenlist indefinite as long as they have more than 10yrs. Oh, and it's not uncommon to have E-5(P) with 10 plus yrs. Ask an Artilleryman. Their points stay at 798 for SSG.

No only E6 and above can go indef. Just asked hubby who is a career counselor. As an E5 even E5(P) you will still have a ETS date.

I understand about being an E5P. Hubby was E5P for 12 years before he reclassed and got an automatic promotion to E6 with his new MOS. However before getting the E6 promotion he needed to reenlist for 2 more years so that he would have 3 years left for his new MOS and he still had a ETS date for a E5(P) at 12 years in. That was 2 years ago and he has since made the E7 list for this year. So hopefully in a couple months he will be velcroing E7 on him. So yes we know about those points not coming down for a very long time, that is the life of a 63B, now he is a 79S.

And now you can even retire as a SGT(P).

Indef will be your only option for reenlistment as you have already passed the ten year mark. And yes, you can retire as a SGT(P) now. Good luck.

I think indef will be your only option. From what I understand you can retire as an E-5P. I believe any enlistment after 10 years in indef. I got out because I didn't want to go indef.

For those who don' understand Army has indef enlistments after 10 years for enlisted also. After 10 years you are considered a Career Soldier and don't want to have to offer you anymore incentives to re-enlist. It has been this way for a few years. You have to put in paperwork to separate and the Army has to agree if you want to get out earlier than you RCP. Even after 20 years they could still hold you if needed if you promote to E-6 or higher.

Fourteen years and just an E-5? There is no such thing as qualifying for indefinite reenlistment. Each serviceman (and woman) is subject to evaluation, and if, in the eyes of the evaluator, that person ain't up to snuff, then hasta la vista, babeeee.
Shoot, I was an E-5 after three years! 14?? What's going on here?

In the Army the only ones who can go on an indefinite enlistment are officers. Talk to the reenlistment NCO at you you. They should have the answers that you are looking for/
