Does anybody know anything about a draft that might happen in the next 3-5 years?

The main folks who talk about a draft are the same ones who burned their own draft cards back in the 1960's. This is a scare tactic, nothing more.

I don't believe there are any plans, especially since the five year mark will be re-election time for the person elected next November.

No, that is a scare tactic of the democrats and other anti war activists. Some democrats, like Charlie Rangel have suggested there be a draft so that more rich kids serve in the military. Besides attempting to interject class warfare in with war issues, it is typical of most democrats because the always believe that people serve in the military because they are confused, desperate for money, misinformed or naive rather than because they love their country, have a deep sense of honor and duty, want to protect America, or believe that there are many opportunities in the military.

Havent heard...and I would say that it is probably just a rumor at this point....no one knows where we will be in 3-5 yrs.....

Don't count on a draft unless anyone and everyone is needed to fight some large scale war. The military learned their lesson from vietnam that soldiers are better at their duties when they volunteer.

It's more mass hysteria from the loony left. Of course dem Charlie Rangel did try to bring back the draft a few years ago. Dems may want to push this but not Republicans. People should have the right to join or bot to join the military...

A couple of Congressmen on the left keep spinning out this idea that we will need a draft, and even put forth legislation to that effect, but even the democrats distanced themselves from those few.

Well, the government is asking for like 160 BILLION more for the war in Irag so anything is possible --esp. until 2008 when maybe America can vote in a new President who cares more for the American working person than his glories in a foreign county that has OIL.
PS--sometimes a lot of young people serve in the military because they believe the lies of the ' Chief of Staff'
