The Bush family is Big Oil, so anything that helps that industry will pass the Bush administration. Thats why we went into Iraq. To protect the oil. Thats why he doesn't want to leave, because then the ensuing civil war will cut off the oil. Bush doesn't give a crap about the soldiers, he just wants money in his pocket, and this pay raise costs money that congress is threatening to take from the war effort. The guy has made a mess, and I pity the next pres who has to clean it up. |

I'm sure that if you took 100 people, that they would come up with 100 pay raise numbers. Just because a bigger one is turned down doesn't mean Bush doesn't support troops. I personally think that the combat pay premium should be increased. There are alot of "desk jockies" in the Armed Forces who pick up all these pay increases, and the closest they get to combat is a brawl at a bar. |

When I was Drafted, I made $95.00 a month, that was enough!!! I was defending what I thought was important!!! No One Goes Into the Miliitary to Make Money! It's a comitment to "Uphold and Defend the Constitution of The United States!" If your there for any other reason, your in the wrong place! |

It regards to the guys comment below about its only 110-115$ per month, honestly as a young lower ranking military family, that much money really does make a BIG difference a month. It isnt just nothing! It does make a difference. I think in a way Bush does support the troops and then at the same time it is still hard as a military wife to have to live pay check to pay check while your husbands here and then the only time you dont have to do that is when they are deployed for a year. A little bit higher pay would definitly help compensate for the time away from thier loved ones for extra training and everything else when it is all preparing them for deployment. |

how do you support someone by sending him to war? to die? to fight a country that Mr. bush already destroyed? what raise are you talking about? shouldn't these soldiers live a normal peacefull life in their country with their families? |

Bush support the troops.. what a laugh.. all he wants is their bodies in Iraq. he does not want to look after them once they are home and brutally injured.. he does not want to help out the families who are left behind once he has managed to get their loved one killed.
Bush cares for two things.. money and his own ***.. that is about it. |

Bush supports Bush and the cronies around him, If it comes to a choice between money for the troops an money for Halliburton I think its pretty obvious which he will choose |

I'd say Bush does as much to support the insurgents as he does to support the US troops. |

What I find funny is how retired and former service members talk about how little they made "back then" compared to the pay we get today. It's called INFLATION. Find yourself a Chevrolet salesperson from 1970 and ask what their salary and commission was then, then ask on of current and you will find the same thing. Here's the kicker. I am a Navy construction equipment mechanic, E-5, with 14 years experience. My civilian counterparts are making anywhere from 15% - 20% more than I am. So, yes, I am a little peturbed that Bush decided that I didn't need that extra .5%. I would rather be brought back up to the current standards set forth by my civilian mechanics. And one more thing that bothers me, while I'm on the soap box. Is it just me, or does it seem to you that if my paycheck comes from taxpayer's taxes, and I'm taxed on said paycheck, isn't that technically Double Taxation? |
