I was told that when your an mp you work days that everyone else would have off like important holidays and such, is this true?

Every MOS can work on holidays and get 30r days of leave. No matter what your MOS is, you get 2.5 days of leave a month. It all depends on the schedule your unit has. Sometimes you work holidays, sometimes you dont. My husband is an Engineer and this last holiday he worked. |

Every Marine gets holidays and 30 days of leave a year. With that being said as an MP you will be on shift work. If your shift falls on a holiday, or the base is doing something special during that holiday and they need more security than you are like everyone else who pulls duty on holidays...hosed. The good news is that if there is something really important to you, plan ahead and use your leave. If you have submitted for the time off well in advance, chances are you are going to get it.

Your time off and leave isn't decided by your MOS, rather your location, current station, and mission. In a "perfect world", you could potentially have all government holidays and observances off(aside from watch standers and other regular duties).
Short and sweet, if your staring at a gate in Okinawa, yeah. If you're staring at your skin blistering and cutting from the Qandahar sun and san, then no. |
