a girl i went to highschool with joined the army, she was never really the smartest girl...and now shes an army medic! how the heck is this possible?!?!

I graduated from Fort Sam Houston's Combat Medic school on 03 March 2009.
We started with about 500 soldiers fresh out of basic training.
We graduated about 280 4 months later.
We probably had 20 people "fall back" (fail back) from Alpha company and who ended up with Bravo company (my company).
We probably had 20 people move from Charlie company into Bravo company because they were already EMT certified and could skip the first 8 weeks of EMT training.
So only about 240 of those soldiers were from my original company of 500.
Almost all of the people who didn't graduate failed tests and were reclassed to truck driver, infantry or mechanic. I think most of them lost their bonus as well.
It's a good MOS, great training (you will know FAR more than a regular EMT-B after the "Whiskey" training) but it's a very hard school. The Army doesn't want dumbasses as medics, plain and simple. |

Well if she passed her Technical School then yes she can be a medic. |

a medic is a glorified EMT (with all due respect to that profession they are fast thinking brave people that save lives) it only takes a GED and certification to do it in the civilian world |

as long as you pass the qualification you can be whatever you want |

my hubby says just about, but it's like an emt (extra man on the truck), that's all so it's not hard to become one, so yes pretty much. |
