Yes, the Marines change your mentality, that's the idea behind boot camp. If you're concerned about that aspect, meet some marines, and see if you like the way they think. |

First:
Black King, you are a true scumbag.
Now in answer to your question, the Marine Corp will build your confidence as well as your body. They will teach you that there are few things in life that you cannot do.You will learn to give respect and you will learn what it takes to EARN respect.I've never met an ex-marine,only former Marines. If you join, you will know what I mean. |

Hmmm...
Well, my cousin's husband was in the Marines (He was injured and he got an honorable discharge), and he was terrible in highschool/early 20s, but then he joined the USMC, and he's a really great person now...
So I don't know if it's just because he matured, or if he changed because of him being in the USMC. |

The Marine Corp is going to break down your personality and rebuild it. That is what basic training is all about.
The recruiter will say anything to get you to sign that contract, so take everything he says with a grain of salt.
Get your degree first. That way, if you do decide to sign up, you can go in as an officer. |

Minivan Mama is right about that. As a woman you need to either go into the Navy, Coast Guard, or Air Force. Not the B.A.M.'s (Broad a**sed Marines) Thats what we called called the Women Marines.
And this is for Mark H, Your brother isn't an idiot unless he was in Force Recon, because there is only 2 things that fall out of the sky. That's idiots and bird crap. |

Hell yeah it will change the way you think. I'm not really "part" of the Marines yet, I'm only a candidate for OCS, soon and hopefully, and just being around Marines all the time etc...I totally have a different view already. Since you're a female too, they will totally change you but in a good way because they will break you down and make you a stronger women. |

I am a parent of a marine, yes in a lot of ways, It is not I or me it is we. You take pride in your self and it will show. nothing is impossible. Who you are personality wise stays the same. My son still is the comic he alway has been. When he is home since boot camp I ask him to do some thing and it is done.
The one thing about a marine they stick together for life. Generals from other countries will tell you that if your are in a group/meeting of people that were in one of the services the marine gravatate together were the other disperse after the meeting. |

Of course your mentality changes in the Marines, but it's all for the good. You become a more determined, responsible, and courageous individual. |

First, go to youtube and type in Drill Instructor, just to see what you will be dealing with. Then make your decision. |

the Corps will change you. it's for the better. you will become more confident in yourself. the biggest difference is the discipline in every thing you do.and the respect for your peers. not everyone will respect you in the civilian society. most will though. finish college first. you will become a better person |

Depends. My half brother became such a Jarhead he went back for three tours in 'Nam. Including '68, he means a lot to me but I sincerely thinking he is an idiot. Airborne all the way! |

Women need to go in the Navy or Air force...Marines will only view you as a Walking Matress, and honestly, alot of them are.... You wont get the respect you deserve in the marines. |
