Draft coming up?

so far i havent gotten any hate email for this answer i always give to this question, maybe its because there are others out there who feel my pain.

GOD i hope there is a draft and soon. why you ask? well im a recruiter and if the draft were to come back then recruiting would be easy. in fact there would be a line of people willing to volunteer before they got drafted so they can get what they want instead of something they dont. therefore making recruiting too easy, so easy in fact that they wouldnt need me anymore and i could be sent back to the operational ARMY where things make sense.

Congressman Charles Rangle of New York introduced a bill in 2006 to introduce the draft. He found no takers and the bill has died on the vine. Quit listening to those voices.

No way dude. The only way there will be a draft is if WWIII breaks out because our troops are already stretched out thin. I don't see it happening anytime soon.

The draft was ended the same day that U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War officially ended. We've had an all-volunteer military since then, and we're not likely to go back if there's any way we can avoid it. Firstly, it would take an Act of Congress to authorize a draft; secondly, even if Bush DID get overzealous and usurp this authority, it's not likely to happen if they can get the personnel anywhere else.

Couple reason.

Everyone that serves has an 8 year military service obligation. Its know as IRR for individual Ready Reserve. Look it up for more info.

The draft, was caused when the military did not have the man power needed to accomplish a military objective.

There are plenty of troops in the military at this time, both active, reserve and IRR.

the american people do not want this war. how is this a democracy when the overwhelming majority are against it?

at the same time, we NEED the energy resources from Iran to come to us and not go to China. Hopefully we can just wait for Ahmadenijad to be out of office - though that might make it harder to have a reason to invade. His threats to Israel have given us cassus belli that Saddam never did.

what we don't understand is that we need that oil, we want to sustain our way of life and it is harder because our population is growing and resources are dwindling.
